I have always been a fan of the Medal of Honor series, so when I got my Playstation 3, I wasn't going to miss out on the latest release. As soon as the game got to the main menu, I could tell this game has the class and honour which all previous Medal of Honor games have had, but Call of Duty games have seemed to miss. Entering the first mission, a training session, it was impossible to look through the glorious graphical detail, perfect audio and amazing controls. I got comfortable, as I knew I would be in for the long haul.
After playing through the first two missions I was in touch with the controls, the way the gun recoils and how to sneak up on the backs of enemies. However after just one sitting of playing this game, I didn't realise at the time, that I had played through half of the game! When the penultimate mission loomed upon me, I was only in my third sitting of this game. When I did finish the story, I played online, which wasn't brilliant as it jumped and lagged, plus hardly anyone was playing.
The game is fantastic, but with so few levels the fun doesn't last long and the fun doesn't transfer to the online gameplay, just frustration.
A good game for the lover of first person shooters, however alot of let downs in this game for someone looking for more than just a shooter.
I picked up this game soon after release and after playing Call of Duty 4 i was to say the least disappointed.
The thing which makes this game different from other Medal of Honors is the ability to parachute jump, however i find the parachute jump, a horrible thing, hard to control, and landings always seeming to be blotched, you find yourself being shot before being ready to fight back.
Upgradeable weapon modifications like call of duty are a nice addition and i like to upgrade my weapon to blow my opponents away.
Online play is no where near as call of dutys and if you intend to play online, buy call of duty.
The single player campaign is good and challenging however the lack of "real" characters lets it down.
For a next generation console the graphics are bluntly a disgrace, why are they ps2 like and not self defining.
Come on EA put a bit of effort in if not Call of Duty will win this war for a long time.
I have brought every Medal or Honor before this and I pre-ordered my copy of this as I didn't want to miss out come release day. I think the game is great and lasts along time but has a few bad points including graphics.
Medal of Honor: Airborne has a new take on WW2, every mission dropping you behind enemy lines in a fully interactive parachute drop. This is very fun and completly different to all other FPS games.
The graphics aren't very good and look like they are from Playstation 2. They look rubbish compared to other great games and need to be improved for it to be up there with Call of Duty 4. The soundtrack is good and the framerate is good as it runs very smooth.
The gameplay is very fun and exciting. The missions provide lots of different gameplay experiences and the weapons chnage to suit this. There are lots of different weapons, enough to suit everyones style. It is very realistic as without cover you will be shoot and killed within minutes, but not enough to make it hard.
This game has bad graphics but is fun and can now be found cheap making it hard to miss! It is a must have for every FPS fan.
Ive always liked the Medal Of Honor games, and have played them on PC/Mac and consoles. However this game is cracking. Apart from being able to pick it up cheap its got loads of longevity.
The missions are quite tricky and vast but allow you to decide what you want to do first. The range of weapons are great and often find your self changing them to suit different missions. You find your self finding interesting ways to dispatch the enemy and build up your weapon abilities. You also need to use cover (a lot!) as you find that you will get torn to pieces if your gung-ho. So game play overall is great.
Graphically this isn't the greatest game but with sound and music added it stands out as one of the best shooter's, and again for £15!
Finally i find the best way to play this game is in full dolby surround with the sub-woofer turned up and the lights low. It really gets the adrenaline pumping and with drastically enhance your game experience.
Medal Of Honour Airborne is of a first person shooter genre and is basically very similar to the other medal of honor games which is set in the World War 2 period. All you do is just take out your weapon, be it a rifle or machine gun and kill the nazis that attack you and basically, win the war!
Gameplay is your typical first person shooter style, however, medal of honor airbourne adds a bit of spice to it, before you start the level you get to parachute from a plane into safe zones, which you dont see in other games.
Shouting and screaming and the sounds of guns and bombs make this game have a realistic feel, as if you were really fighting a war.
Becomes boring after a while, but gets interesting as it slowly progresses. You also get to play online with people so thats a plus and got me really addicted, even though i dont like these games.
I definitely recommend this to those that like first person shooter games.
