Advantages: No Frills Arcade Push And Go Racing, Good Mix Of Vehicles And Tracks, Awesome Soundtrack.

Disadvantages: Lack Of 2 Player Mode, Some Bad Rendering.

If god made arcade style racers then motorstorm is among those created by the big man, from the carnivale intro vid, through the monument valley flyover to the game itself it is indeed a very nice addition to the collection of the petrolhead gamer.
In motorstorm you have a choice of rally cars, bikes, big rigs and more at your disposal with no fiddly tweak your engine stuff, this game is among the ultimate "click and play" racers.
The landscape is that of "Monument Valley" a completely computer rendered place of valleys, sheer cliffs and monumentous peaks, over all of which you are expected to hang on for dear life as you rally round the track at life threatening speeds.
If you wanna win however your gonna have to hit a ramp or two on the way which makes for some insane hold your breath moments as you catch massive air and lose complete control only to see some rocks or a cliff face coming at you because you took off at the wrong angle.
This brings me to the crashes and smashes which to me have been rendered well, and lets be honest here sometimes you just wanna drive your bike straight into the wall or off a clifface just to watch your guy being ragdolled through the air.
I love the flyover of the valley in the extras, it's such a nice touch and if your viewing it in high def then boy are you in for a treat, it looks so real and it is very believeable that it is a real place.
The letdown however comes when you are racing on the track, for the most part the graphics are stunning but when you look a little closer you realise that the grass etc are all just 2d templates that rotate on a 360 axis to fool you into thinking the developers actually spent time rendering this detail, this to me takes away from the game as once this is noticed it's quite irritating, maybe i'm just picky!.
The levels are varied enough to keep you interested and as always with PS3 releases you can update content from the store to add to your racing experience, just beware that when you are on the bike, true to life it's gonna be brutal out there as you are rammed slammed and smashed from all angles by the AI opponents.
The soundtrack is also pretty decent, definately setting the mood for the race, fast paced tracks and high octane thrills are most definately a good combo.
What this game is lacking however is the ability to play 2 player split screen mode with your freinds and family, but you can take it online and race against the world which makes up for this slightly. bewarned however most of the opponents you'll meet online are awesome at this game so make sure you get some practice in if you don't want to be eating dust!, which will cover your characters clothing and dust up the screen making it insanely hard to see where you are going, in motorstorm, behind other racers is definately not a good place to be.
All in all apart from a couple of pernickety wee things i rate this game highly for what it is a truly high octane arcade racing experience.

Summary: High Octane Thrills At Headspinning Heights As You Fight Through The Pack For The Win, Buy This !!
