Let me just start by saying that I am not the worlds biggest fan of Nascar as a sport but appreciate the skills needed to be a great in the sport.
I picked this game up as I noticed when looking that this was a driving game for the PS3 which has vibration function available so picked this up to see how good the PS3 vibration is following all of the delays in being able to get this on the console.
I tried this game on a quick race to see how I felt about it and was really very impressed as the graphics and sound quality were both brilliant but I was even more impressed with how the vibration function does make such an amazing level of difference in how drawn into the game you actually are.
Following this quick race I set about designing my own car and was impressed with how much work I could do and how stunning you are able to make the cars look.
The control system is simple to use and it is not too difficult to get the hang of it but as you progress in the difficulty standards then you will not be able to just brake whenever you wish no matter which way your wheels are aimed as your car will lose control and correcting these beasts at high speed is not a simple thing to do.
On the whole I would say that people who love Nascar will love the game but for those who don't love Nascar then don't think a great game will override the underlying fact you don't like the style of racing.
This is a game about racing cars. I have played a lot of racing games in my life time and when I say a lot I really mean it! the overall experience for this game was just ok. I think this game is amazing if you are a nascar fan then this is the game for you. When you race and you have a black flag, be careful, because they are black flag, if you encounter some drivers. Enjoy this wonderful game and be amaizing with its new features and graphics. I also enjoyed this game much more than the previous releases of the game and would encourage anyone to purchase this game. Beware though, once you get this game you will become extremely addicted to it and will not want to stop playing. I personally cannot find anything that I dislike about this game and am sure that anyone that purchases this game will agree with me that it is the best nascar game yet. Try it
With the video game market already flooded with racing games, Nascar 09 really needs to deliver if it wants to be at the top. However, when I played the game with my friend, a die hard nascar fan he was very impressed but having experienced Grid and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue I was very disappointed. I thought the game was rubbish and not very good at all.
The game follows the 09 nascar season. The game does have some good points including good graphics on a HDTV and also has alot of ways to customise your car. You can upload your own images and lots of other stickers and stuff to put onto your car. The legend mode is very good but only for fans as it requires tactics and skill.
The graphics are very good and the soundtrack is good. The game has no framerate issues so runs very smooth.
If you hit another car, you will have to have a drive through penalty which will ruin your race. The crashes are also rubbish with hardly any damage and good effects.
Overall, this game should only be brought by Nascar fans. It is availble cheap now making it a great buy.
Nascar 09 is a racing game that does not quite live up to expectations it has many holes in it and hours of great exhilarating game play seems hard to come by.
One of the strength's of this game is the customisation features it has. It has an array of different designs that can be applied and if you prefer something different you can even upload your own images.
The legend mode is the most exciting and requires some skill in driving, I feel that the best of this game can be squeezed out in this mode.
Giving the driver in front of you a little bump will cause you to get black flagged and unlike Forza Motorsport 2 where the penalty is adding a few second you have to go in the pit lane and endure an exterior shot of your car trawling through the pit lane.
One of the main elements of Nascar racing is its crashes, this game however fails to deliver on that front. It doesn't match the carnage that burnout creates for example and therefore the game quickly becomes quite drab as you keep going round and round in an oval.
The AI doesn't seem to create any excitement either. They hardly crash and maintain an almost perfect oval line. I thought that perhaps the online racers would alleviate that problem but that could only happen if I could get online! Waiting in the lobby takes an incredibly long amount of time, with games like Halo 3 and GTA IV waiting is minimal but I guess those games are popular.
I like racing games but this game features on the bottom of my list. The next game in the series is going to require some work in many deparments before it can compete with the likes of Forza Motorsport 2 and Burnout.
