“ Manufacturer: 2K Sports / Genre: Sports / Release Date: 2008 „
The last NBA 2K game I bought was 2K6 so it was time for an upgrade. The first and biggest improvement I noticed were the graphics. The shorts and jersey actually move with the player and don't look like they are made of wood anymore. The close ups of the players' faces are very detailed and look much more accurate to the real players, than before. When you're playing a game, it is getting close to looking like a real game on TV. Also, one area that is very noticeable, unlike most sports games, is the crowd. They're very varied with numerous animations, no longer looking generic and the same.
There is a main offline mode, where you train a team of your choice and go through season with them. There also mini games, like a 3 point shootout (harder than I expected) and a dunk contest. I mainly use this to play against friends though and co-op is also great. The AI is much smarter now and more realistic. If you give an inch to LeBron, he'll make you pay, because that's what should happen. Players will dive for a loose ball and defence won't wonder off when you're making a break. There are less glitches but they are still present now and again.
The right analogue stick is much better for defence. It's smoother and more natural to block and steal. The gameplay in general is fast, lively and vastly improved.
Basketball games have come along way from the late 90's/00's. This game has everything that you actually do if you where an actually NBA player, which I wish I was. The graphics almost look like your watching the game at your home late at night, (if u live in the U.K). And its not just press a button and it shoots. There's a skill now you actually have to take it past a player or make some smooth passes and get your self into some space and shoot. But you have to be precise with pulling back the analogue stick and realising the ball at the right point of a second.
And now the internet is hooked up to are consoles these days the player are updated all the time to make sure that are at the same level on the game as the are in real life. You can also play your friends online as well, maybe a one on one game. Or a dunk contest with each other. There so much to do on the new 2k9 game you won't put the controller down
The basic things the 2k9 has to offer. You can play as your favourite team and take them through the years till they win the title. But you have obstacles on the way. You'll sign the players you want to keep. You get to draft the players you want in the NBA draft. Sign some free agents if you didn't get a high enough draft pick. The train your player is the off-season to make sure there ready for the new and up coming season.
Take it to the streets where you can play 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, etc. choose the players you want to face each. Then have a dunk contest with the same players or new one if you want, have a three point contest if you're an outside shooting type of guy/woman.
There so much to offer in the new 2k9 game I would say it the best one there has been for a while. And if you're a crazy basketball fan like me its worth buying
