Advantages: Good graphics and nice cars

Disadvantages: Bad crashes, bad story, bad AI, bad £20 spent

Having played the NFS series from the days of the Megadrive, and having really liked Need For Speed Pro Street, I eagerly picked up the latest copy at sainsbury's for a bargain £20, only to be disappointed that it was maybe the most repetitive driving game I had ever played.

The story line seems to lack structure and things happen more by chance than by actual design. A lot of the time you are driving around the city lacking any direction whatsoever waiting for something to happen. The cop chases are decent, but the cops are so hideously bad that there is no real challenge in them. The city is nicely designed but without the story to go with it it all seems a bit pointless.

The vehicles are some of the better ones in this type of game, but it could learn a lesson from Burnout on how to do crashes.

It's not the worst game ever, but I couldn't help yearning for the old days of Driver and remembering how much better the stories were!

Summary: Get Burnout instead
