Advantages: Free, some fun stuff to do, have to buy clothes/items

Disadvantages: Not really that fun, takes up 4GB of space

Playstation Home is a virtual world developed exclusively for the Playstation 3, is it really good enough to be your second home?

First of all you will have to download Playstation Home which is free, all is well so far. Once you have selected to download it from your Playstation XMB you will have around 200mb of data to download but Home will reserve a massive 4GB of hard drive space for itself, which is pretty significant if you are using a 40GB or even 60GB Playstation 3.

Once you are in Home you create your avatar, you can pick between a guy or a girl and can customize your characters to look pretty much however you want, sort of like the Sims. There are only a small selection of clothes to wear though, you will find out why when you log on to home!

Once you start you will appear in your own apartment, you can invite friends to your apartment or just sit there and do nothing. There are many hubs for you to visit luckily like Home Square, Arcade, Cinema, Shopping Centre and numerous game spaces.

The Home Square is where everyone usually first goes, its a central hub with access to everything in Home, the apartments and so on. You can also play chess and draughts with others here which is pretty fun. The Shopping Centre is the reason your selection of clothes is limited, they expect you to go and purchase clothes for your virtual avatar costing from 79p per item and going over the £5 if you want a nicer home! You can also buy things for your apartment. The arcade is probably the most fun place in home, there are arcade machines for you to play on along with a bowling alley and pool tables.

Another aspect of Home is the interaction with others, every other player in
Home is a real person. You can talk to them using text chat. Voice chat is only available for friends and you have to phone them up. Your avatar will also do basic emotes like thumbs up, waves, dances.

It's not the most interesting place to hang out but if you're bored it can be fun for a little while!

Summary: A decent timewaster.
