Advantages: Great graphics, super storyline, very nice controls
Disadvantages: None
Prince of Persia in its various releases, always struck me as a pretty game, with awkward controls and not much depth. This latest PS3 version took my fancy, mainly due to boredom. The £24.99 price helped, but I am sure with a bit of searching you could pick it up a little cheaper now.
The game is rated 12+, it is only a single player game and received a 9.4 rating on IGN. Upon loading the game, it looks really pretty again, but the Prince looks a lot more rugged in appearance. After just a few minutes playing, it is obvious that the programmers have worked hard on simplifying the control method. There is no more fouled up jumps, as you do not have to hold down the button to load your jump or next move anymore, it is just a single press. The aerobatic animations are superb, double jumping, wall walking and the like, all make this a very cinematic and engaging game. There is still some annoyance in there though, when you drop down onto a lower platform only to find that is not the way to go.
The gameplay is really smooth, with well thought out controls. The storyline is equally as good. It doesn't matter that the course of the game is pre-determined, as it is so engrossing and enjoyable. It really encourages you to seek out all of the (collectable) Light Seeds and to unlock as much as you can. The sound is pretty good too, but the visuals win it for me. It could possibly be my game of the year.
Summary: It could possibly be my game of the year

- 13/04/09 I like the intuitive controls of PofP but I do think it gets a little repetitive. |
