Pro Evolution Soccer 09 represents a brilliant improvement of the previous best football simulator out there. Although Fifa seems to have caught up this year, the current PES title is a brilliant overhaul from its predecessor. With passing, goalkeepers, and general features such as the edit mode drastically improved. It represents football as a fast flowing, energetic game.

There are however some major flaws, such as the horrible unplayable online mode, full of lag not dependent on your own connection. And another bad point is the reliance on speed, a quick player such as Messi, Ronaldo or Torres can run the pitch and score, leaving defenders in their dust and unable to make a tackle.

Pro evolution soccer 9 is a good game, it has set the guidelines from a brilliant game in the form of PES 10 but until then, we are left with an OK game with some flaws.

Summary: Good bits and bad bits. Not as good as FIFA
