Advantages: Smooth, jaw dropping graphics

Disadvantages: Too smooth, restrictive transfers

Well the bugs that have hampered the Pro Evo series since the jump from the PS2 format finally seem to be ironed out. The movement is much smoother, the player reactions much more life like but I dunno...something's just not the same.

Maybe it's because I'm older and my thumbs can't stand a 12-hour session to get my Master Team to the top of the table and virtually unbeatable but PES just doesn't have the same grab it used to.

Whilst the AI makes for a superior product in terms of replicating the football, the fun no longer seems to have been sacrificed in the process. As I picked up the controller and drooled over the smooth interchange of passing, the effortless turn on the ball or even the dismay as the goalkeeper effortlessly raced out to take the ball from my feet, I yearned for the ISS days when a Master League Team could be easily obtained with no worries about paying wages and transfer windows. Surely worrying about that is for Football Manager not a console game. The old format was much better, win games - get points - points buy players.

That's not to say this isn't a great game, it really is. Just so happens this old man can't keep up with the pace anymore and is stuck in the past!
