Advantages: Solid Story, Good Controls, Good abilitys and combat
Disadvantages: Graphics arnt the best, Lack motivation to replay
Prototype is a thirdperson free roaming game where you play as the main character Alex Mercer, who has mysteriously lost his memory..but also gained superpowers. The game take place in Manhattan which is displayed very well in this game. A virus has been unleased onto the city, spreading a disease to citizens and making them mutate and become mindless, And although you are an effect of the disease, you are much different from the others victims.
Gameplay: The gameplay of Prototype is the average superhero sandbox game type. You can free roam around the city and explore as you wish from the start of the game, which I thought was a good feature. Throughout the course of the game, you gain many superpowers rangeing from razor sharp claws to your arm becomeing a giant blade. All of these superpowers are extremly fun to use and are easy to use. There are also many extra attacks and combos that can be brought ingame, making the combat more advanced and giving you many more general abilities. The missions in Prototype are mainly find and kill missions, with an occasional change. While this stays entertaining for the game duration, it doesent leave much for replayability as you will proberly find yourself leaving this game on the shelf after completion, even though the game offers the chance to replay with all your abilitys and to complete side missions, you will more than likely had enough of the game by then.
Story: For me, the story was entertaining for the duration of the game and had me hooked (although im sure there are many others who will disagree with me). The story of prototype is revolved around the main character Alex Mercer trying to regain his memory. He regains his memory is a different way then youd think though. To regain his memory alex consumes the bodys of other people, and then has the ability to see all of thier memorys, thus helping him restore his own memory. Along the duration of the game you will see many characters throughout, although I will not mention them as they could be a potential spoiler. The ending of Prototype was satisfying, and I found it to be a good closing to the game.
Graphics: The graphics in Prototype are pritty generic. While they arnt the best of graphics they definately arnt an eyesore, they seem to follow the pattern that most games have of useing brown and grey tone colours making the enviroment seem dull at times. Although the graphics are good enough to play the game without thinking they are bad.
Overall, Prototype is a good solid antihero game that will give you a few good hours of chopping people up.
Summary: A good snadbox antihero game
