Ratchet and clank...well...where can i start? there are so many amazing things about this game, i dont think id have enough time to list them al, but i shall try.
The main thing i love about ratchet and clank, is the hugerry of weapons and gadgets available to your character, and tools of destruction takes this to a new level.
With around 20 weapons in total and around 8-9 gadgets this has to be the most in any game of its type, and each of those weapons can be upgraded to level 5, and then the omega versions of those weapons can be bought once the story mode is completed, so if you were to completely upgrade every weapon your looking at easily over 30 hours of gameplay, which makes this an amazing example of how an action adventure game should be.
Also another thing i love about ratchet and clank, are the characters, they have a certain lovable quality about them which means you very rarely get bored with them.
Also i think that the fact they haven't run out of ideas for a story-line is amazing, in the entire franchise there is about 7-8 games, and each one has an amazing story-line, which never gets boring, they must have some pretty smart people working for them ill say that.
This is an amazing addition to the ratchet and clank franchise and i hope for our sake they continue making games like this.
If you have played Rachtet and Clank before you know what to expect.
but for those of you who haven't.
Ratchet was a lone lombax(something like a angry rabbit) mechanic living a quiet life simply hoping to one day finish his space ship then clank dropped in. a diminutive robot with a big brain
They set about saving the Galaxy with the help of a large and imaginative arsenal and occasional with the 'help' of captain Quark (think Bananaman). six games on, same Galaxy more weapons
so the that's the back story.
In this installment we will find out more on why Ratchet in the only lombax in the village and Clank gets some imaginary friends... and there is a love interest (i think) but that doesn't work as clearly Ratchet and Clank are soul mates (again, I think)
The plot: the last Cragmite (they were the bad guys and the Lombax destroyed them all)is set on finding the last lombax weapon and Our heroes have to stop him. that's all you need to know !
Plot is simply something that provides the voice talent something to do in Ratchet and Clank. The gaming experience is all about the game play and here you will not be disappointed. As normal the geeks at Imsomiac have tried to provide us with extra bits, collect raratanium to modify your weapons (the mods aren't worth much but it is nice to have a goal) and find the holo plans for the RYNO but those are fun distractions from the game. The new weapons are fun; A nano stealing bug that takes life from bad guys and boosts your life, freeze bombs and plasma nets but most fun is the disco ball you will find you self using more of these than you need just to watch the bad guys' Saturday night fever impression.
The only let down really is the graphics they alternately seem to be trying to over use the PS3 high def and forgetting all about it the lack of consistency is disappointing but doesn't detract from the game to much
As with any installment in a much love series you are left slightly disappointed more because of the high expectation of the user than the game content but over all if you like your games heavy on fun and game play this is your cup of tea
This is the first iteration of the Ratchet and Clank series on the PS3, and it's another brilliant game from the solid development team at Insomniac Games.
If you're not familiar with the series, it follows the adventures of Ratchet (the big cat-like character) and his robot buddy Clank.
This has all the makings of their traditional PS2 adventures through space, with whacky enemies and even whackier weapons. The run and gun gamplay is pure fun, each weapon is nicely varied and upgrades as you rack up kills with it.
The game is vibrant and visually stunning, each level is well crafted offering beautiful scenery and plenty of enemies to keep you entertained. The storyline is a bit strange, but the satisfication that comes from smashing things up and collecting the Bolts (money) that come out, is unmatched in terms of fun, compared to the majority of other games.
If you're looking for a fun game that you can play without having to think, then this is the perfect game for you.
The whole series in my opinion is unrivalled in terms of pure fun.
Go, Buy, Enjoy!
