Advantages: Everything, gameplay, storyline, graphics and controls
Disadvantages: Feels too short :(
Resistance 2 is the second game in this fanstastic series. Again we follow Sgt Nathan Hale in the events that occur after the events which happened in Resistance Fall Of Man..
The graphics in this installment have been given a huge kick up the jacksie (this is not to say the graphics in the first game were awful because they were far from it) But none the less the graphics are far more impressive.
With a selection of new weapons and a couple of returning favourites, this game stays true to its roots and keeps that base level of familiararity for previous players to build on. While we are on the subject of weapons, In the first game you were capable of carrying every weapon that you come across, while this was strategically very good, it was not realistic. With Resistance 2, you are only capable of carrying 2 weapons, this is far more realistic and in some ways makes the game better because you have to try and think ahead, what you will need different weapons for, and thus try to pick the best for all given situations.
The story line is again utterly superb, carrying on from the previous game and as already mentioned, the graphics have improved a lot as games programmers are starting to understand the PS3 more and more, clawing more an more performance out of this godly machine. But the cinematic cut scenes, they leave you with your mouth open and by the time you realise, its too late are you go scrambling for a tissue or something to wipe the already fallen drool! :) They are extremely pleasing well designed and give a HUGE boost to the already amazing storyline.
The chimera (the evil aliens you fight against in this game for the first timers out there, I recommend you buy and play the first game before this installment) have also improved, everything about them simply looks better than it did before and there are more new chimera for you to fill with lead, laser rounds and fuel grenades. ;)
Negative points? Hmmm well the gameplay is superb and the story line is well structured, graphics are amazing, weapon selection is amazing and controller layout is still all amazing, but again the down point to the game is it is simply too short :( Whilst the missions are quite long in themselves, overall the game feels too short for me, this is a truly amazing game but I just feel that there could have been more in this installment.
However I am willing to look past this major flaw for the simple fact that i enjoyed it, thoroughly and completely and give this game 10 stars.. wait noo dooyoo only allows 5!! That seems a little unfair as I would say this game is a huge improvement on an already superb game and since I gave the first installment 5 stars, seemed only right that this deserves 10 (but oh well)
Breath taking
Summary: You simply MUST play this but only after the first to appreciate it's superb story
