I have played Ridge Racer on other platforms in the past such as on the PSP and have always been a fan of its arcade style gaming. It is predominantly a racing game that specialises in 'Drifitng'. The game was released in November 2006 and I got this supplied with my PS3 so I did not really know what to expect.

The game is quick to start-up and when it is fully started you will notice the graphics. They really were fantastic and it for me made me feel as though I made a great choice by buying the PS3. The cars really do look very realistic and so do the courses, this was a big improvement from the other versions of the game.

There is 40 cars available to choose from which I considered to be quite varied and there is 22 courses that can be chosen. This amount of selection I found kept me playing the game for hours. The overall gameplay I found to be very good and very typical of the Ridge Racer style however, I know that the 'Drifting' racing style may not appeal to everybody's taste.

You have the option of creating your own dream car which I found to be great fun because there really is an excellent selection available to choose from, with somethign like 375,000 possible visual customisations! You can then use this customised car when you play online. The online feature of this game is excellent and you can play with up to 14 other players. I found this made the gameplay much longer than it would otherwise have been.

The graphics go up to 1080p !! If you have an HDTV like I do and put it up to the full resolution the graphics are outstanding! And there is a SIXAXIS feature built in which makes the driving really fun and gives a great deal of entertainment! I really would recommend this game and considering it is now available for under £10 in many places it really is worth it. I hope this was useful and thank you for reading!
