The same game with better graphics (Ridge Racer 7 (PS3))

I recently purchased this game for only £5 from Ebay. Upon booting Ridge Racer 7, everything looks familiar for anyone who has played a Ridge Racer game before. Having played Ridge Racer 6 for the XBOX 360, the graphics and layout of the game for Ridge Racer 7 look very similar. In this sense Ridge Racer 7 is not really an upgrade to the previous game, just a slightly tweaked game. RR7 has the usual gameplay modes including, arcade, trial, online and the grandprix quest modes whereby you enter races, win prize money and use the funds to tune up your car for better parts. As with any Ridge Racer game I have ever played, the beginning is very slow as you race with very slow cars, however unlocking new cars and it becomes fun.

Compared to the XBOX 360 version, the graphics seem slightly improved, better models, higher resolution textures and most important of all the game feels faster. This is probably down to the Cell processor. It appears Ridge Racer is better suited to the PS3.

This game doesn't attempt to achieve realism, for anyone who wants a realistic driving game, I recommend driving a real car. However for anyone who just wants to sit down and have a bit of fun, I highly recommend Ridge Racer 7.
