      Very helpful

An energetic, fun and challenging game!

      "Inside everyone there's a Singstar"

I think I have an okay singing voice, others would disagree. I am constantly singing around the house and pretty much anywhere I go so this game is perfect for me. It is an outlet in which I can release my singing demons. This game however is so much more than just a singing game, it is a dance game too. You can sing and dance along to all your favourite tracks!

To play this game you have to have all the necessary equipment:
      *PlayStation 3
      *USB Microphones (one per player)
      *PlayStation Eye Camera
*PlayStation Move Motion Controller (one per player)
This may seem like a lot of equipment and if you just have the PS3 I would think carefully before investing in it as it is quite expensive. It is worthwhile however as there are a lot of games which you can make good use out of and it is fun!

The aim of the game is to get as many points as possible by singing the correct lyrics in time and in tune and hitting the right dance moves. If you are playing solo you can choose to just sing, just dance or do both and if you are playing with more than one person you can assign roles. The game is rated 12 as there is some bad language and sexual references in the songs. You can play with 1 to 8 players which is great for parties and great for playing alone.

Once you have chosen the amount of players and which type of game you want to play you have to choose a song. When you pick a song the lyrics and dance moves come up on the screen for you to follow. Points are awarded for holding correct notes and hitting dance moves at the right time, there is a running total of your score on the screen whilst you are playing so if you are playing against someone else you can always see who is winning. You work your way around the game using a regular PlayStation controller, it is easy to follow and understand. The game can be a whole lot of fun if you have the time and dedication to practice, it is a good workout too!

Now onto the most important part, the songs! There are 30 tracks on the game, each with its original music video in HD. Before I buy a game like this I always look at the songs and it mainly is down to them as to whether I buy the game or not. I enjoy singing to current songs with a few classics too, a good play list is essential to get me interested.

The songs on this game are:

*N Sync - Bye Bye Bye: a classic fun karaoke song with the famous high note at the end courtesy of JC Chasez and some great boy band dance moves.
*Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up: A great duet with attitude, Fergie definitely has the best part in this song.
*Blondie - Heart Of Glass: This is a song that I skip as I am not familiar with it and I am not a Blondie fan.
*Chris Brown - With You: a lovely R&B ballad which is easy to sing in comparison to some of the other songs so it is a great starting point.
*Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: Perfect for singing with the girls and having a blast!
*Diana Ross and The Supremes - Baby Love: This song is quite simple to dance and sing to at the same time and I love anything by Diana Ross.
*Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive: This song is so well-known and I have heard it so many times that I was reluctant to try it out at first but it is actually fun, not one of the best on the game though.
*Gossip - Standing in The Way Of Control: This song is really hard to sing to, dancing is fine but the singing is really tough.
*Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For?: I am not a huge fan of this song, it is challenging to sing-a-long to and I just find myself wanting it to end as soon as I start playing it. I do like the dance to this song though it is very energetic.
*Jamiroquai -Cosmic Girl: I forgot how much I liked Jamiroquai! It is hard to dance and sing to this song at the same time but practice makes perfect.
*KC & The Sunshine Band - That's The Way (I Like It): This is another song that I don't go on too often as I struggle to find the concentration to complete the whole song.
*Kid Cudi vs. Crookers - Day 'N' Nite: A great song but it is not one that you can listen to over and over again so it can get a little bit boring.
*Kool And The Gang - Celebration: This is one song that I would not have put on this game, for me it is just not a good song to sing-a-long to and have fun.
*La Roux - Bulletproof: I don't like this song so I hardly ever go on it but it is quite easy to sing to and the dance is simple.
*Lady Gaga - Poker Face: This is one of the best songs on the game and one of Lady Gaga's best songs to date. This one is so much fun, I love dancing and singing to it!
*MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This: Another rap song, a classic from MC Hammer, great for parties and a lot of people know it anyway so you are guaranteed a high score.
*New Kids On The Block - Hangin Tough: Another song from a boy band, it is not as good as N Sync or The Backstreet Boys but it is still a classic.
*Outkast - Hey Ya!: This is definitely a party track, shake it like a Polaroid picture!!
*Paula Abdul - Straight Up: I am not a huge Paula Abdul fan so I have to admit I don't go on this track often but it is quite easy to sing to if you know the song.
*Pitbull - I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho): This is one of my favourite songs ever I think so I love that it is on this game. It is really hard but with a bit of practice you can go a long way with it.
*Reel 2 Real feat. The Mad Stuntman - I Like To Move It: This song just reminds me of the Chewit adverts! It is quite difficult to rap to.
*Ricky Martin - Living La Vida Loca: One of my favourite tracks on the game! It is a classic party song and is so much fun to dance to, this song reminds me of when I was younger and I used to sing it everywhere so it is a fun choice for me.
*Run DMC vs. Jason Nevins - It's Like That: If you are going to be successful at rapping to a song it will most likely be a Run DMC song. I know this because I have been able to rap to Run DMC since I was a kid so if you want to start rapping this is probably the place to do it.
*Salt N Peppa - Push It: The chorus is simple on this song but the verses are really difficult, it takes quite a lot of practice to get good at.
*Shaggy - Boombastic: Shaggy is in the house on this song. If you can find your Mr Lover Lover I am sure that you will score highly on this track.
*Sir Mix A Lot - Baby Got Back: This song is just hilarious as I am sure you can imagine. The lyrics are insane and the dancing is out there so playing this song will definitely create a few laughs.
*Soulja Boy - Crank That: Doing the well-known dance to this song at the same time as trying to rap it is quite amusing but difficult!
*The Backstreet Boys - Everybody (Backstreet's Back): If I was to pick an ultimate Backstreet Boys song for a game like this I don't think that this would be it however it is fun and it is cool to dance to. The 'alright' note is still quite hard to hit though.
*The Jackson 5 - I Want You Back: Unless your voice is quite high this song is difficult to sing but it is such a great song it doesn't matter anyway, the dance moves are cute too.
*The Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha: This song is a pop classic and great fun, I prefer to dance to it than sing to it.

Overall I like the mix of songs that are on this game however I think that there are too many rap songs and not enough songs that you can really go all out and sing and dance to. I love rap music but it is so difficult to play along to. I think this game needs a little bit of Rihanna, Britney, Destiny's Child, Michael Jackson or Kelly Clarkson to really make it stand out. Also there is no country music on this game which I find hard to believe as there are some amazing country songs out there.

The good thing about this game is that you have access to the SingStore where you can get new tracks and videos so you can make your dream play list a reality. The bad thing is that you have to pay. Tracks range from about 99p to a couple of pound but it is worthwhile buying one every so often if you play on the game a lot. I have bought quite a few tracks in the past such as Maroon 5 and The Calling and I think that it is worth it, I just look at SingStore as another iTunes.

      Great Fun.

I really like this game, the fact that you can buy extra tracks from the SingStore makes it so much better as you are not just limited to the songs provided. I like the style of the game, the graphics are amazing and the video quality is fantastic. There are a few weak tracks on the game but that is just down to my personal opinion, other people may love the songs. I love the sing and dance aspect of this game, it offers so much more than just a regular sing or dance game. It is very difficult however to master singing and dancing at the same time but once you can, it's really fun. To start it is probably best to just concentrate on dancing or singing or have one person do each on every track and build up practice that way. It is a game which you can pull out at parties but as it is quite difficult you have to spend some time practicing. As you can download any song that you wish you can concentrate on songs you already know so that it is easier to get higher scores.

I recommend this game to anyone who loves to sing and dance! I have bought previous SingStar games in the past and even though I am not overly pleased with the play list on this one I definitely prefer it. I love that you can add new songs and the speed of the game and the quality of it is phenomenal.

You can buy this game from most good game stores, supermarkets and online for about £20 but I would definitely shop around as there are always deals to be found.

I give this game 5 out of 5 stars!

Thank you for reading : )
