The physics engine is also brilliant, particularly with the bails looking particularly realistic. The main thing about this game, however, must be its control system. The analogue sticks are what you use for performing practically all the stunts involved. It was a breeze to pick up and I had no difficulty learning the basic moves. The more complex moves are far mor...more

Premium Review Skate 2 (PS3): Skate 2 (Xbox 360) (288 words)

NOTE: I have only experienced Skate 2 for the Xbox 360. Like its prequel, Skate 2 offers a chilled out approach to the skateboarding genre, unlike the more hectic Tony Hawks series which offers extremely unrealistic tasks. It is, like Skate, a easy game to play with some challenging but realistic tasks. It has kept the amazing Flickit control system which I loved about the first one, making it feel more like you are controlling the skaters feet movements. They have kept the same map too which at first I thought was a bad decision as skating the same places could get boring. This was until you find out that during that in-game time period between the first and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Skate 2 - the best skating experience on the PS3 to date. (354 words)

I have owned Skate 2 for a few weeks now, having bought it off amazon for a pretty decent price. I'm going to go through the good and bad points of the game, and hopefully you'll be able to see if it's the right game for you. First off, I would like to recommend you download the demo of Skate 2 off the PSN Store (free to download). Chances are (as with most games) that if you don't like the demo, you should be hesitant about buying the game. The first thing you realise about Skate 2 is that it's going to take a while for you to master the controls of the Flickit Trick system. Unlike Tony Hawk games, you can't just hit the jump button off a ramp ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Skate 2 (PS3): A quality, challenging game! (561 words)

Skate 2 - Playstation 3 Skate 2 is an amazing skateboarding game. The concept is very similar to skate. You still skate around a city on your skateboard, doing tricks and challenging pros. The FlickIT system still needs a brand new control pad when trying to pull off some of the more complicated flip tricks. The difference lies in all the little changes they've made which add up to one big, worthwhile sequel, the most obvious change is New San Vanelona an earthquake destroyed the old city, requiring an almost complete rebuild. Fans of the previous game will still recognise some landmarks, but a lot of areas are completely different. The rebuild ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Skate 2 (PS3): Excellent, Breath of Fresh Air in the Skating Genre (256 words)

I have this on the Xbox360 not PS3! Skate 2 is the first game in the Skate series that I have played, and I must say, that it is a breath of fresh air in the skateboarding genre. I was sick to death of having to pull off 100000 point combo's in the Tony Hawks series, and when I saw this, I just had to buy it! The graphics are great, at some points it even looks real. One downside is the behavior of cars, they seem very robotic, and stand out as a flaw in the near perfect game world. The Characters look great, and behave in a realistic manner. The physics engine is also brilliant, particularly with the bails looking particularly ...  Read the complete review
