Advantages: Graphics, gameplay, control system, walking, moveable objects
Disadvantages: Pretty much same storyline as Skate 1 with some minor differences
NOTE: I have only experienced Skate 2 for the Xbox 360.
Like its prequel, Skate 2 offers a chilled out approach to the skateboarding genre, unlike the more hectic Tony Hawks series which offers extremely unrealistic tasks. It is, like Skate, a easy game to play with some challenging but realistic tasks. It has kept the amazing Flickit control system which I loved about the first one, making it feel more like you are controlling the skaters feet movements. They have kept the same map too which at first I thought was a bad decision as skating the same places could get boring. This was until you find out that during that in-game time period between the first and second, there was a massive earthquake which destroyed a lot of the city so when they rebuilt it a lot of the places were changed. They have also added a lot of new tricks, which include no-complys, boneless's, foot plants, finger flips and many more. They have also included the feature of getting off your board and being able to roam around more freely, which the prequel lacked. This means instead of taking an hour tricking up each individual step of that huge stair set you found, you can simply jump off your board and walk up it. Being able to move certain objects around is also a huge bonus as it makes you able to create your own little lines for fun or to help in objectives. However, the career mode is pretty much the same as in Skate. Overall, I think this is an excellent edition to the Skate series and hope to see Skate 3 released in the near future. Highly recommended to any Skate fans out there!
Summary: If you loved Skate then you'll love this!
