Advantages: good control system, great graphics
Disadvantages: cars are robotic and run you over constantly, security guards prove an irritant
I have this on the Xbox360 not PS3!
Skate 2 is the first game in the Skate series that I have played, and I must say, that it is a breath of fresh air in the skateboarding genre. I was sick to death of having to pull off 100000 point combo's in the Tony Hawks series, and when I saw this, I just had to buy it!
The graphics are great, at some points it even looks real. One downside is the behavior of cars, they seem very robotic, and stand out as a flaw in the near perfect game world. The Characters look great, and behave in a realistic manner. The physics engine is also brilliant, particularly with the bails looking particularly realistic.
The main thing about this game, however, must be its control system. The analogue sticks are what you use for performing practically all the stunts involved. It was a breeze to pick up and I had no difficulty learning the basic moves. The more complex moves are far more difficult to nail, and it does take practice, but there is a great sense of achievment when you finally nail a big gap, or a combo.
As a skateboarding game, Skate 2 is brilliant, there are some flaws, such as the cars always running you over and irritating security guards, which prevent it from being a perfect skating game. But all in all Skate 2 is an excellent game and i would thoroughly recommend this to any skateboarding fans!
Summary: Excellent Game! Buy IT!
