      remastered classic!

The Sly Raccoon series was an awesome action packed game originally released for the Playstation 2. Recently, in their trend of re-releasing old classics with a HD revamp, Sony have chosen to give Sly Raccoon the special treatment.

The Sly Trilogy features all three of the Sly Raccoon classics:
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Racconus
      Sly 2: Band of Thieves
      Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
all have been completely remastered in high definition and come on a single Playstation 3 blu ray disc.

The basic storyline is this...Sly Raccoon is a master theif (and a very cool one at that). He was born into a long line and family of Master thiefs but when he was younger they were killed. The family Heirloom, the Thievius Racconus, was stolen (this contains all the familys best spy secrets) and Sly needs to get it back.

The gameplay throughout thsi series is great - its a little like crash bandicoot/ratchet and cank (except your a raccoon), but its harder, more details, and theres alot more to do. Theres lots to collect on each level and different missions to compete with the help of your trusted side kicks, you also get to play as these characters from time to time. Whats even better is that the levels are quite challenging, which is nice as alot of games today, particularly games such as this which are aimed at children, are a little to easy.

Its looks great it in remasted HD form, but dont expect miracles here. It wont look like it just came out yesterday! Its still an old game, with the first being released around 2001 (i think!), they havent remade the whole franchise with amazing up to date graphics, they've just tweaked the old one a little bit. Making the sound quality better, the colours brighter and the edges sharper. The difference between this and the original on PS2 is very noticable, but just dont expect it to look prestine like the latest ratchet and clank game or something similar - or you will be disappointed!

One thing I will critisize this on is the camera angels - sometimes they can get very annoying and you struggle to see what is going on (this is no longer a problem by the 3rd installment), for the first two games however it does get a little frustrating - but not enough to put you off playing the game!

What I love about these remastered games on PS3 is that they are normally alot cheaper than other new releases, normally retailing for around £29.99-£34.99, but you are also getting 3 games in this deal. In addition to this, older games tend to have a lot more gameplay and tend to last a lot longer than alot of newer releases. So it works out at fantastic value for money. Sony are only giving the very best of their back catalogue this HD treatment, look out for other titles such as the recently released Ratchet and Clank Trilogy (review coming soon), God of War Collection, Devil May Cry HD Collection, Silent Hill Collection, and the Jak and Daxter Collection, with the Rayman HD Classics coming later this year!
