Socom Confrontation (PS3)

Confrontation is the fifth installment in the SOCOM series and like Warhawk is an online only game. Because of this it is cheaper than your average retail game but it does leave you anticipant of a very good online mode. You can buy Confrontation in the Playstation Network store or buy a tangible copy with a headset if you wish. For me, Confrontation is very hit and miss and you have to be in the right mood to play it. The player can customise weaponry, armour and their costume to quite a detailed extent in SOCOM which is good as individuality is important in an online only game in my opinion. Introduction Socom was my favourite 3rd person shooter on the play station 2. When I got my ps3 I couldn't wait in till Socom confrontation came out and when it did I picked up the pack with the head set. So I got my first taste of online tactical shooter and I loved it! I was a huge fan of SOCOM 1 & 2 on the PS2 some years ago and when I got my ps3 recently I had to get this game. However, I am left somewhat disappointed. After a huge 500mb+ download to update the game before I could play it, I realised that it's an online only game. So no offline, 1 player mode to learn/re-learn the game and it's controls, etc. The wafer thing manual does little to help this problem either. Anyway, I eventually get online and connect to a server and select a game. I die within seconds and have around 5 minutes to wait before the next round. Socom confrontation - OK confession time first! i bought this game along with the headset for a bargain price and it was mainly just for the headset. Being into my fps games and loving ghost recon, call of duty etc i thought I'd give this a bash. Despite all its little faults i think this is a cracking game. It received a very negative press upon release due to poor servers and in game bugs but the Dev's have been working hard and rectifying a lot of faults with more patches on the way. Socom confrontation is an online only tactical shooter. Well I would like to call it a tactical shooter but it is more often then not played by idiots who run in all guns blazing ruining the whole match for your team. I bought this game as I was a fan of the Socom series and did not know that it was online only at first.
