Advantages: nice tactical game play, great maps , customisable guns

Disadvantages: Too often spoiled by online gamer

Socom confrontation is an online only tactical shooter. Well I would like to call it a tactical shooter but it is more often then not played by idiots who run in all guns blazing ruining the whole match for your team. I bought this game as I was a fan of the Socom series and did not know that it was online only at first. I thought that with it being the same game, that I would be able to enjoy it without a solo campaign.

I began to play it after buying a head set after I saw that most people seemed to have one on it. I found that the head sets were abused with people shouting, swearing and arguing while games were trying to be played. When there's nobody there to ruin it Socom is a very good game but as it is meant to be played tactically.

It is something of a shame to because there are elements of this game which are very enjoyable. There are plenty of available maps each with different terrains adding variation and requiring different tactics depending on the setting. The game handles numerous players on the screen very smoothly, there are plenty of weapons to choose from and given the right people playing online can lead to some very fierce tactical battles where wit and skill will win the day.

However given the potential downfalls which I have often found also with this game, it does make me question what was the motivation behind releasing a solely online game?

Summary: a very fun game if you get into a a match with the right people
