Introduction


Socom was my favourite 3rd person shooter on the play station 2. When I got my ps3 I couldn't wait in till Socom confrontation came out and when it did I picked up the pack with the head set. So I got my first taste of online tactical shooter and I loved it!


Plot


As far as I can tell Socom has no plot at all. Its your standard America VS Terrorist game play. But a plot would only ruin the fun!


Features


This game is an online only. That means no single player of any kind. This means that when this game goes out of the spot light and people stop playing you have to as well. But this means that with all the focus on the online you get a great experience. The maps are something else. There laid out superbly with at least 2 possible routes to each spot. This stop cambers dead and forces you to keep moving. The fact that this game has a head set with it means that you can communicate with your fellow gamer. This really helps as this game is tactical and if you go in all guns blazing with no team to back you up you'll get mown down by the opposition who are working together. However its these trigger happy idiots that can ruin a good match. For example if you are hidden they will give your position away and lead to the both of you getting killed. You also get some people shouting down the head set. But you can just mute them and carry on playing. If you can get a group all in the same mind set then get ready for the best tactical experience of all time!


Game play


The graphics on Socom are above average but aren't as mind blowing as drakes uncharted or metal gear 4 but do the job. The lighting is great with the shine of metal and water looking good and the flash of a gun better then any other. The recoil of your weapon seems real and you can that the marines had a lot of input.


Conclusion


This is a truly great game and loads of fun. I'm sad to say that there has been a drop in the amount of players so get involved while you still can!!!!
