The idea that a game aimed at kids can get away with being substandard is one that permeates the videogames industry, and it's as wrong-headed as it is insidious. Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Republic Heroes is a prime example of this mindset. Set in Clone Wars continuity, and therefore slotting in between Episodes II and III, Republic Heroes sees you taking on the roles of both Jedi warriors and clone troopers in alternating levels. This game is based faithfully on the Clone Wars TV show, with the stylised, plasticky characters emulated well. Whether that's a good thing depends on your tolerance for the cartoon. There is no possible way that anybody reading this review has not at least heard of Star Wars. If you haven't seen any of the six movies, then fair enough. I can comprehend that. But if you try to claim that you don't even recognise the name, then I simply don't believe you. Because Star Wars is one of, if not the, biggest movie franchise of all time. It is global phenomenon really, spawning not only the aforementioned six movies, but also swaths of memorabilia, books, toys, computer games and so on.
