Super Street Fighter 4 is one of the best fighting games out on the market at the moment! It took the simply fabulous mechanics of Street Fighter 4 and refined them while adding more characters and locations to the existing game.
No graphical improvements have been added since the last iteration of the game! The extra locations look just as nice as the others in the previous game!
The extra characters that the game adds are Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Dudley, Makoto, Ibuki, Juri and Hakan. All of them are excellent additions to the game (all of them apart from Juri and Hakan having appeared in previous games). Despite having all the characters unlocked, there is still incentive to play the game both offline/online, since you can unlock new costumes, characters taunts and quotes. All the costumes bought for the previous game work on Super Street Fighter 4 as well!
A major improvement is the addition of another ultra attack. Each character now has a selection of two to choose from!
The price of Super Street Fighter 4 has massively dropped and if you have been thining about buying this game or want to get into fighting games, then this is the perfect one!
It's Super Street Fighter IV!!
The same engine as Vanilla SF IV, so graphically not much has been improved. Even so, I think the semi 2D/3D graph with ink brush / canvas effect still looks pretty good.
Sound / Music
Not much to say, you can choose between Jap/Eng voice actors just like vanilla, the background music is also pretty good.
So much has been added to enrich this title.
Its still the same engine from Vanilla SF IV, but they add a 2nd ULTRA moves for each characters this time. The 2nd Ultras are very interesting, and enrich the whole gameplay.
For Single player mode, Capcom added Bonus Stages from the Super Street Fighter II (barrels and cars).
For Multi player mode, we can create a room for several people unlike the 1v1 on vanilla, and also Capcom added replay mode, so we can watch the top players ranked match replay. Yey!
Super Street Fighter IV came with quite a number of new characters. Listening to the fans request, Capcom adds old school SF Characters (Dudley, Adon, Ibuki, Guy) and also brand new ones (Hakan and Juri) to this game.
The vanilla Street Fighter IV was a pretty balanced game, although of course there are slightly overpowered characters.. *cough* ..Sagat *cough*
When Super was announced with additional chars we all worry, because the tier balancing will be even harder, but until this review is written, so far Capcom has done a very nice job balancing those tiers.
I'd be happy to give this game a 5/5!
A huge disapproving uproar happened in the online community when Capcom stated they were releasing an updated Streetfighter IV game.
'Why do we have to buy this?,' Why can't we have this as downloadable content if I already have Streetfighter IV?' the fanboys cried.
Capcom had their reasons which I'll get to but first on with the review.
The full roster of Streetfighter IV returns with 10 new warriors jumping onboard. Dee Jay and T.Hawk (who were strangely missing from Streetfighter IV) as well Guy, Cody and Adon from the Streetfighter Alpha series. Makoto, Dudley and Ibuki from Streetfighter 3 and 2 new warriors. Juri is an evil female Taekwondo expert and Hakan is a wrestler who likes smothering himself in oil during a fight (don't ask).
The game plays out much like Streetfighter IV but certain characters such as Vega and Guile have had their gameplay tweaked in order to balance them out which is probably why the content couldn't be offered up as downloadable content.
Each character now has 2 Ultra's which are selectable from the character select screen much like Streetfighter 3 and some of the old dull fighters from Streetfighter IV have been made quite interesting due to have a really cool alternate Ultra.
The bonus stages from Streetfighter 2 also make a welcome return to this game making it truly feel like Streetfighter truly should.
The online modes have been upgraded enabling you to play round robin battles along with the ranked matches which makes everything really special indeed.
Any downloaded costumes acquired for Streetfighter IV also work in this game so if that isn't reason enough to get this game then you clearly don't deserve it, see you online, I'll be Adon.
We all know street fighter and its maker Capcom. It used to be a aracade game and it is a legendary game.
In the game some features and models in the game are 3d but the game remains on a 2d plane, which it flows in and out from 2d to 3d this happens at certain times which makes the fights more dramatic.
The other thing is the moves stay the same and have been carried on but with some twists and different attacks. All the characters are rendered in 3d and the characters stay the same. The graphics is brillant and I thought that this could go no further as a game but I was really impressed.
The games charcters
There are some new charcters and they are as follows:
Abel who is a french martial artist he is a man with no past
Crimson Viper a female american spy and her dress code is cool with leather gloves and sunglases
Rufus who is a heavy overweight kung foo fighter
El Ferute who is a mexican chef
There is also some new bosses and hidden charcters they are as follows
Seth is a new guy who is a master in weapons
Akuma is a hidden charcter
Guken who is Akumas big brother
I like this game as it has come back with some new great content like new levels and bonus stages. I have played the game charcters but my best is sonic booming online acquaintances. There are now 35 cast members in the game with each of them having their own unique combat style. There has been new characters and there is also 19 old charcters and they have had a revamp in their fighting styles too and not just the new comers. I also love the bonus stages were one is you have to smash a car up in the time limit. This game is a great game and just like the legend ultimate acrcade fighting game too. It is now only 24.99 if you shop about and packed with hours of fun
I think it is brillant and I love the multiplayer and also playing online this is a great feature in any fighting game as it is good for a night in with the lads for a good of bit competition and the game is very challenging. A few different ideas brought into the game but keeping the game just like the street fighter we once all loved. There is some new charcters also introduced and some cool combos when in combat a great game for the lads. A four star for me.
When Street Fighter IV was released, and turned out to be actually pretty damn good, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. A series I'd loved as a child was still going strong, and in the grand tradition of the series, it wasn't long before another mildly different variant was released, in Super Street Fighter IV.
The main attraction of SSF4 is the addition of new characters, bringing the total now to 35, with many old favourites returning as well as a few entirely new ones. There also some minor configuration differences and match mode enhancements, but these are mainly for the die-hards who have no doubt bought every annual update of the SF series.
To that extent, it is hard to recommend this to the casual fans who enjoyed SF4. This game is somewhat more challenging, but doesn't offer enough to really make most people go for the double-dip. However, if you're an SF nut like me, you'll probably have bought it already. The online mode is without doubt the highlight here, and I'm particularly fond of both the high level of challenge online, and the fact that a player's disconnection rate can be read, so you can out those players who just quit when they are losing.
Is there much reason to buy this? Not really, UNLESS you're a hardcore fan of the series, because there's no doubt going to be some sort of ULTRA version released in a year or so, but it's still an incredibly fun tweaking of the previous game. Still, £20 to pay for a few enhancements - especially when you STILL have to get some clothes as DLC - does seem rather cheeky on the part of the dev's. Still, the game is so fun that they just about get away with it.
If anyone is checking the reviews of this game on the basis of "i have bought street fighter 4 only a couple of months ago and should i really pay £25/£30 for another version" then my opinion is a definate yes. This is a whole lot more than just a cheap money making ploy from capcom! The best fighting game in years has just got better!! As a life long street fighter fan i have to say this is the best street fighter ever. It is worth the money alone just to play the car smash and barrel break special stages in pristine hi def!! And thats not to mention the whole host of extra characters from past street fighter games. If other people are like me and found the end boss seth a little to hard and fustrating to beat but wanted to unlock all the extra fighters then this game is for you, all the fighters straight from the start!! Although after maybe 2 or 3 hours of play it may seem a little repetative its always good fun to get some mates round and and get a tournament going!! Ahh the good old 90's!! All in all a great purchase for any fighting game fan.
This updated Street Fighter IV is absolutely beautiful and addictive.
Forget about the first Street Fighter IV and purchase this, reasons to that is because:
10 Additional Characters are added and the game itself is juiced up with trendy graphics. Personally, my favourite updated character would have to be Juri. She is a wonderful character and I take good pleasure fighting as her on any circumstances in this game.
All characters arcade mode prologue and epilogue is a gem, however, I thought they could emphasize the anime clips because they do get into the grooves beyond profile of the characters (especially the new ones).
Sadly, Seth is featured as a boss level because he is a pain to beat on the first SFIV, but can be overcome with practice and precision.
Rival fights are good, because its good for the story to overlap on character's feelings and their actions, but some are just repeated to the previous game just like Ken vs Rufus or Abel vs Guile, I felt that Capcom just don't know what to do on some characters rivals and just slotted the same fighting rival.
The moves needs to be mastered by the book guided on the booklet, because it is the same as apposed to the first SFIV where you need to compose the correct commands to achieve certain moves. It may be difficult for beginners, but I suggest you read the booklet for moves first or on the website to see evidence for practice.
Their are 2 additional features during arcade which are The Car Crasher (Where you need to damage the car as much as possible) and Barrel Basher (Where you got to smash all the barrels as possible in a certain time) These are good, but I feel it is redundant and pointless and could have added more bonuses to make it more fun.
The trials are ok, there are 24 levels for all characters, but it's best if you buy yourself a fightpad joystick because using a normal controller is difficult to master when planting harder combos (for myself especially).
The soundtrack is excellent, it is really addictive and already got addicted to one of the song (Which is on the character Selection Menu).
Overall, I would recommend for anyone to buy this for any SF fans or fighting fans, yes it may be £22-£30, but it is worth the money with those magnificent updates!
First review completed, I hope it satisfied you to buy this game, because i know you will enjoy it :)
