I bought Beatle's rockband from HMV for £3, on sale now, which I thought was a brilliant bargin! The game has some great songs on it, such as 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' and 'Here Comes The Sun' as well as the famous tracks like 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' and 'A Hard Day's Night'. There are songs for every Beatles' fan on this game, making it the perfect addition to any Rock Band or Guitar Hero collection.
Each song has a background especially designed for it, with John, Paul, George and Ringo dancing and singing along! This makes it actually more entertaining.
The game works perfectly well with Guitar Hero band sets (haven't tried it with Rock Band sets) although the drumming is designed for the RB four drum set, instead of the GH five drum set.
One annoying thing about it is the way to use star power is to sing at certain star power points in the song. This is annoying because it's hard to sing or say anything in the right pitch to get it the register for star power!
Also, not all the best Beatles' tracks are on the game, but they have to be downloaded from the RB store if you want to play them; for example, 'All You Need Is Love'. There are a good range of songs though and a good number of them!
Overall, a great buy and a highly entertaining game, with only minor flaws.
The Beatles Rock Band carries on with normal Rock Band tittles but with Beatles songs. As with all Rock Band games you have the choice of using the guitar, drums or microphone to sing, all can be used with friends in band mode or with others online; however anytime I attempted to create a band online I never got matched with anyone. I don't know if this is a result of poor servers or the fact that there were so few people playing this game online. This game is easier than many of the other music games out there because the Beatles songs tend not to be as fast as ones from bands like Metallica. If you are a Beatles fan there are many unlockables such as pictures and videos and the artwork used in the game is fantastic and really fitting to the Beatles. The career in the game involves playing sets at some of the Beatles most famous locations as you play through the career of the Beatles. One small complaint would be the fact that I felt that some songs were left out of the game in order to be able to sold as downloads, but with over 40 songs on the game Its hard to complain too much. A must for all Beatles lovers.
I can't tell you how excited I was when this was released! I was raised listening to the The Beatles. My Dad especially was really into this band. I remember Sunday afternoons, he would play his Beatles Records and sing along, and try to get us kids to sing along too! To this day I still remember the Album cover with a picture taken from below looking at the band looking down from a stairwell.
My eyes lit up just from watching the loading screen, watching the animated version of the band members travelling in their car to a gig, hearing the screams from their fans, and the awesome music which shot this band to fame!
My heart was pounding as I was filled with nostaligia and joy!
Not only was I in awe of the music, so clearly coming from my PS3, but also of the band equipment!
Ludwig Drums and wooden drumsticks
Hofner Violin Bass Guitar
Adjustable Microphone and stand
I was bought the special addition bundle. I believe the difference being is the limited addition has The Beatles brand on the equipment.

The gameplay is amazing and gives you a wonderful feel of the era of the Beatles, the game gives a wonderful nostaligia and a truely awesome vibe.
The instruments are very easy to use.
The screen displays an icon of the instrument next to it and the coloured notes you have to hit in time as shown on the screen. You find that regardless of which instrument you play, the rhythm will take over you and you will find you hit the notes at the relevant time in line with the music.
Drums - 4 different coloured drum discs on your drum to hit with the sticks and a footpeddle to tap when prompted in the game.
Bass - 2 sets (for different length of arms) of 5 different coloured notes, with whammy bar. Strum the Whammy at the same time hitting the coloured notes.
Microphone and stand - this is height adjustable (from about 2 1/2ft - 5ft). Sing the lyrics on the screen and follow with your voice for the pattern of the notes going higher and lower.
The Graphics are of a more realistic feel instead of being overly cartoony to give the game a more believeable feel. This also adds so much nostalgia.
The graphics are very smooth and clear. There are no continious flashing lights - no problems for epileptics or anyone who is photo-sensitive, who wish to rock out with The Beatles.
The sound and Music quality is excellent! There is nothing I could fault with the music. The music is very clear when playing your instruments. When singing you can still clearly hear the Beatles singing, which helps you sing along, whilst still being able to hear your own voice through the microphone.

IT has great charm and features so many features for a true Beatles fan.

The first band-specific standalone Rock Band game takes one of the biggest groups ever and mixes the best of music with the best of music games. If you've played Rock Band or Guitar Hero before then you'll know what to expect from this game, but does The Beatles' music lend itself to a music rhythm game.
The answer is definately yes, the msuic is fun to play along to whether you're singing, on guitar or drumming. With a selection of tracks from the early Cavern Club days to their climactic rooftop performance there is something for everyone and this game is likely to have the whole family playing along. Of course everyone will feel there is a track they like missing, but this is inevitable with a catalogue as large as theirs.
The gameplay does very little to change up the tried and tested formula of these games. Notes scroll down the screen and you pluck the guitar or bang the drums when they reach the bottom. The system is easy to pick up and it is noticeable that these songs are easier than those of the main Rock Band games. I find drumming the most enjoyable of the disciplines but every instrument is fun to play. Singing can now be done with up to 3 players in this game allowing you to recreate the harmonies of The Beatles's songs.
Graphically you may not expect much from a game such as this but it does a great job of giving you a vibrant journey through The Beatles' career. As you move on in story mode there is a short introduction to each stage from Shea Stadium to Abbey Road, and then the real magic comes during the songs. Songs from the Abbey Road sessions are accompanied by what is known as a dreamscape, these are often weird and wonderful psychedelic sequences that look spectacular and may cause you to miss notes as you are drawn to the backgrounds imagery.
This is a fantastic game for any Beatles fan and even more so if your a Rock Band expert. It can be quite pricey unless you already have the instruments form the original games but well worth the price nonetheless.
This is Harmonix's latest iteration of it's fabulously popular guitar hero/rockband series. This time they have taken on the Beatles and put the music of the fab four in a lovely multicolored, karaoke format.
If you buy the full bit of kit i.e the drums, the guitar the microphones etc you will be getting a very high quality product indeed, with realistic adaptations of the Ludwig drums of Ringo and Paul's guitar. You will pay quite a hefty premium however, and if you already have the kit from previous games there is no need to upgrade.
Onto the actual game, many fans will be disappointed to see many of their favourites left out such as "Hey Jude", "Lady Madonna" and "Let it be" to name just a few not included in the box. These will be released as a DLC in a somewhat cynical attempt to cash in after the initial purchase. Despite this some of the Beatles less well known songs receive more coverage than normal, which can only be a good thing. All of the band members are also equally represented with plenty of Harrison songs and Ringo's efforts as well as the classic Lennon/McCartney's. They songs that are included are really a joy to play and all the family can belt out their own favourites or whatever, it is simply a fun group game.
All in all another good effort from Harmonix, and it is the Beatles, which is always fun.
As a Playstation fan and a Beatles fanatic this game was a must for me the day it was released, and I haven't looked back since.
Despite my obvious enthusiasm for a game designed for playing and singing a collection of my favourite songs, I had never used a Rock Band or Guitar Hero game before and so I did hold slight reservations on how it would work. To add to this, I am only a beginner guitar player, never attempted the drums and from what I can gather from friends' reactions, I can't sing! So would my limited musical performance ability take away from the enjoyment of the game? Not at all.
The game starts with a thoroughly enjoyable cartoon opening sequence of the Beatles travelling through various Beatles landmarks in Liverpool and beyond, before leaving you at a screen asking you to "tune" your instruments. This screen calibrates your reaction speed on the controllers/instruments with what appears on the television, which is vital to doing well on the game (more on how it's played in a minute). After this I jumped straight into the story mode, which after a short cartoon video, takes you back to the Cavern performing one of your choice of early Beatles songs (All songs are fully licensed. Cavern songs are I Saw Her Standing There, Twist & Shout, Boys and Do You Want to Know a Secret).
Like I mentioned earlier, I had slight reservations regarding the actual playing of the game but after calibrating my "instrument" and viewing the quick tutorial I loved it. The guitar has five coloured buttons on the neck and one on the body which goes up or down (as if playing imaginary strings). The game shows which note(s) to play by highlighting them on a board that scrolls from the top to the bottom of the screen, and the player must press the relevant buttons in and play them in time with them hitting the timing bar at the bottom (honestly, it's easier than it sounds and a game for all ages). The drums work in a similar way only swapping one of the five notes for a foot pedal which is displayed by a bar going across the scrolling board, but are equally as easy to learn. Both instruments are very easy to pickup and enjoy but difficult to master, thus pleasing both gaming newcomers and experienced gamers. For the vocals, the lyrics are displayed on screen with the pitch being determined by how high on the board they are displayed (the higher up on the board, the higher the word(s) must be sang), and the timing working in the same way as the guitar and drums, only the board moving from right to left instead of top to bottom.
Players can earn points for hitting the notes on time and even earn bonus points for ad-libbing in the correct place or if you're playing with multiple instruments, for all hitting top form at the same time (not missing any notes). The game does give you a generous allowance of missed notes and when you miss a few notes, that instrument is noticeably absent from the track and may even result in the crowd becoming disgruntled! Its also good to know that the game won't stop the song if you miss too many notes on one of the lower difficulty levels.
As the game continues you'll play through various Beatles concerts (Shea Stadium is particularly impressive) and a large number of songs have their own music videos, all of which is as entertaining and enjoyable as the music. There are 45 licensed Beatles songs for the game, with many, many more available for download.
Overall it's a thoroughly enjoyable game for music fans of any age and I even found my parents (neither of whom had previously touched any games console) refusing to let go of the game and let someone else have a go. Its great fun on your own, but even better with a friend or five (up to six people can play simultaneously if you have enough peripherals). I can't do anything but recommend this game, it's suitable for the whole family (the guitar even has smaller kids buttons lower down its neck) and never ending fun as the Beatles music hits a new generation yet again.
Wow, the game does the era of this world famous band total credit, from start to finish it was total enjoyment, I've played it on guitar, bass, drums and vocals by myself and with my 10 year old stepson, we had a total blast playing together. The visuals are beautiful and it can be hard to play and not try and peak at the back ground.
The 45 songs are great, but you must be aware that this game is not exportable to use with Rock Band 1 or 2 and the download content for them will not work with this game, it's the fab 4 all the way, future albums to be download content are the Albums : Abbey Road, Sargent Peepers Loneley Hearts Club and Rubber Soul, and maybe some other singles as well.
Official Rock Band Strat will work as will all Guitar Hero instruments and Sing Star microphones work as well.
All in all a brilliant game with plenty of challenges to keep you all comimg back, try 3 people singing at once!! a new generation will now be able to appreciate this iconic band in a way they could never of imagined.
It's so fun!I bought the full beatles band in a box and this game was included. It's great and such a laugh! There is a good list of songs (even though one of my favorites is missing but i'll come to that later).Reading up about the game, the official website explains that the game is compatible with most music game hardware, whether it it the 'rockband' instruments or the 'band hero' instruments, with I think its great as you won't have to only stick the the brand you bought. The main part of the game lets you progress through the music industry just like the beatle did, which is fun and interesting to watch/ experience. You can also have play it against each other or just practicing, freestyle or even online. The tracklist is good too,
A definite must-have for all Beatles fans. The game is great fun! I have 2 guitars, a drum kit and 4 microphones so christmas was extra special this year. Even my parents were singing. The great thing is that everyone can play and if you're not that great just put fail mode off and you can't lose! Having been a huge fan of Guitar Hero, I already knew the pros and cons of the game. Unfortunately, I did get sick of the same songs. Many of us didn't know some of the songs therefore we were continually playing "Yellow Submarine" and "Twist and Shout". The graphics are amazing especially on the PS3 and a good HDTV. It almost felt as if we were all at a live concert. Online play is especially good if no-one is about and you want to compete. If you aren't a huge fan of The Beatles, you will get bored of it fairly quickly. But it's worth having if your friends are coming round perhaps even better after some wine!
I love the Rock Band games, and so the thought of a game with all of the best music of The Beatles sounded like a match made in heaven. Fortunately, no expense has been scared nor any corner cut in the creation of this excellent game that captures the essence of one of the world's most beloved groups. Although disappointingly easy, this is a game that any Beatles fan owes it to themselves to buy.
The game takes you through the Beatles' rise to fame, from their earliest recordings, to their Abbey Road days, and to full stadium gigs, providing you with an insight into their career and also having some stunning visuals that represent the different periods in which the songs were written. This is really what separates this game from the other Rock Band/Guitar Hero games; a lot more time has been put into the visual side, for the character counterparts look great, and the general aesthetic is very much geared to the music.
The game is a real hoot if played with a few friends, but my only gripe with it is that it's incredibly easy, mainly because The Beatles have never written a particularly taxing song (and that's not a criticism of them). Don't expect any axe-grinding 8-minute solos here, because you will invariably be disappointed, but if you know the first thing about the Beatles, then this won't be a problem. Although easy, all of their biggest hits are on here along with a few lesser-known ones, meaning there's an eclectic mix that's extremely fun to play with other Beatles fans.
Visually, this defies the expectations of the rhythm game genre, but as expected, is a whole bunch of fun and worth adding to your collection!
The latest installment in the Rock Band series is a special Beatles edition.
For those who don't know, Rock Band is a series of games that are played with a microphone, or special controllers shaped like a guitar or a drum kit. You 'play' the songs with the special controllers by following the colours on screen and pressing/strumming/drumming those colours.
I am a great fan of the Rock Band games, but not a great fan of the Beatles, but I bought this anyway and am glad I did.
There are 45 songs in this game, some well known and some not so well known. Playing through the 'story' mode is a good way of trying all the songs, and I'm sure, like me, you'll find a few gems that you didn't know before.
If you've not played a Rock Band game before there are varying difficulty levels from a no-fail easy mode, right on up to a very challenging expert mode.
New to this version is the ability to have 3 people singing harmonies at once, so you have the option of having upto 6 people playing at once. (3 Harmonies, 1 Guitarist, 1 Bassist and 1 Drummer). If you don't have that many friends or the equipment to fill a band, you can play solo or you can team up with others online.
The game has been made with the input of the surviving Beatles and is immaculately presented in The Beatles' unique style and feels a very polished product.
