Advantages: Arcadey score hunting is refreshing, frantic levels, easy to play

Disadvantages: Can get frustrating at times

The Club may look like any other shooter on the surface, but dig a little deeper, and you'll discover that it's so much more.

You play from a third person perspective, and the job of your chosen character is given at the start of the level, the most common being to score X amount of points, to win a race to the end of the level, or to simply survive. For each kill you get you get a certain amount of points, depending on how difficult the kill was, ie headshot, kill using final bullet, distance from target, etc. Each successive kill awards you a multiplier, so for the second kill you get twice the points, the third awards you three times the points and so on. With each successive multiplier, you get less and less time to add to the combo, so the game ends up becoming a frantic dash through the level to get as high a score as possible fore you either finish the level or your time runs out. Each group of around 6 or so levels is played at once, one after the other, each with different requirements, and with your score for each level being recorded in a sort of league format, and you want to rank at least 3rd in the league so that you can progress onto the next set of levels.

It's a very arcadey approach to an FPS, but it works amazingly well, and will keep you coming back for more. The enemies aren't particularty difficult to deal with - the main enemy in this game is certainly the clock!

For anyone that's looking for a different style of FPS, this game comes highly recommended.

Summary: A brilliant arcade style FPS

Yeah I did realise that, but TPS or 3PS just... doesn't feel right. I suppose I should have just said shooter, but I think people will get the gist :)

Wait a sec, doesn't FPS stand for First Person Shooter? How can The Club be an FPS if it's in third-person?

It's a minor niggle, but it's a good review otherwise.
