This game is sooo addictive! Basically you start off as a no-body working for one of the families and you have to work your way up the ranks, First by making shop owners pay protection money (normally by shaking them up a bit!) once they agree you then get a payment each week some of the shops may have a racket or brothel upstairs and you can earn extra money for those. You also have other missions you can carry out which adds to the game as well as gaining safe houses all over New york.
As you move up the ranks by earning respect and the money starts coming in you can hire people to work for you which helps as the missons become more difficult, you have to be careful though as each time you commit a crime you attract police attention (unless of course you bribe them!). The aim is to become the Don of New York and even then the game doesn't end you then have missions to carry out against the clock.
It was such a simple game to play i really enojyed it, normally i found PS3 games to have so many moves for your character if you went a day without playing the game you forgot the moves but not with this. I did find steering the cars quite difficult and often had to get my other half to be my get away driver and we'd spend hours as a tag team me roughing em up to get paid and him getting me away as quickly as possible! The scenes are really good and it was fun to drive around New York.
Definately a game worth getting, everyone i have lent it to has raved about it and its a game i never got bored of!
This is not just another gta rip off! This is a seriously great game. I fact i would say this is the best game I have played for the PS3 yet.
The game follows the godfarther trilogy story and has enough cut sequences to keep you clued up if you haven't seen the films. You start as a low level goon with ambitions to move up the rank and tackle various missions or concentrate on your own money gains. Like gta you can steal cars or beat random people who probably don't deserve it. I always find walking down the street and accidentaly on purpose knocking into a inoccent to here the word smuk or lowlife ussualy gives an excuse for a beating.
What first struck me about this game was the control of the fighting, not just your normal punch kick. The right hand analog is used to swing punches in the movement you want, also grabbing hold of a person and chucking them around, through windows banging there head against tables, all the usual peaceful, stuff can be controled by the simple movement of the actual controler wii style.
Can't be bothered to play the missions go and extort some shop keepers for some protection money, if they don't pay? trash the joint untill they start paying.
Hardcore gaming violent and addictive.
This game holds it own against gta, I would be quite happy buying this game and gta when it comes out as it does hold its own as a decent game not a gta rip off.
