Tiger Woods golf 08 was the first golf game that I have bought for any console which is strange considering I am a big golf fan. I'm sure you have heard of the Tiger Wood's series however because they have been going for many years. The game was released in August 2007 and really did look to be an excellent game.
When playing the game I didn't really know whatto expect and I was worried that it would be quite difficult to get use to it. In fact I found the controls to be very easy to use and engaging. I was very impressed with just how many features there were to make it as realisitc as possible. There is an option where you can post video's of your shots an can view others!
Being a golf game I thought that the graphics would be very improtant and in Tiger Woods 08 the courses really do look beautiful. It really does have a large affect on the game and make it that bit more realisitc. There was a feature that I liked called 'Gamer Face' which allows your face (providing you have a camera) to be turned into a golfer. The end product of me was very accurate although it did take a long time to complete.
The game has 21 professional golfers available including of course Tiger Woods, which I found to be a very good selection. There are 16 courses available to choose from which really do look beautiful. For any golf fan I would really recommend this game because I have loved it so far and find myself playing on it regularly.
There is also a network play feature available in this game with up to 4 players on splitscreen which really is great fun with your friends and family! I really do think that this is a fantatsic game and the graphics really are brilliant. The load times generally are quick which is always useful and so I would highly recommend it. I hope this was useful and thank you very much for reading.
I've been a massive fan of the tiger woods series since playing on the original playstation, I'm not going to lie and say i've bought every tiger woods game but I have invested in a good few and this one like it's predecessor 2007 is a little dissapointing.
EA seem to have struggled with the past couple of tiger releases by adding too many new features, they would have been better sticking with the excellent gameplay of 2006 and just bettering the graphics, commentary and adding some awesome new courses.
What they did instead is try to add too much new content to the gameplay experience and for me this spoils the game. whether they did this to impress the fanatics or to try and make this more of a golf simulator i don't know but one things for sure this just doesn't have the same pick up and play all day addictiveness that the tiger woods series used to.
However the EA gameface addition is a nice touch and actually seeing yourself play on the course is a novelty for a while until you get bored of it.
Normally I would have completed the game before now but I've only played it about 3 times for an hour because i really didn't appreciate it.
EA need to take a step back to Tiger 2006 and make the next addition to this series a whole lot less complex and a lot more fulfilling to play, it's good to have to think about all the factors before taking your shot, but this effort has to many factors to think about and it takes the fun out of the game.
The graphics are awesome but not amazing like they could have been and the commentary though ok is just as repetative as it used to be, you would think that over the years the AI would have gotten better.
This is in my opinion was rushed out to release and EA should have spent a lot more time on it, it is the worst of all the tiger woods titles, EA need to pull their finger out and rethink the basic concepts of the game before they ruin what was essentially a classic series.
With each year comes a new Tiger Woods game and each year you think just what can they do to improve the game further and each year they manage it! Tiger Woods 2008 has the most realistic graphics yet.
The game offers just about every form of golf you can imagine and is great fun if you just want to have a mess around with your friends; however the best part of the game lies in the career mode where you create your own golfer and go about being your skill levels in different parts of the game to a standard where you can compete with the great man himself. The career mode offers the opportunity to compete on the PGA tour with the only disappointment being a lack of Augusta National and the Masters, as well as advancing through PGA tour seasons you can take on the Tiger Challenge which involves mini games of golf against other Pro Golfers and celebrities where you work you way through the games before finally facing Tiger at the end.
In my opinion both golfers and gamers will enjoy this game.
Each year Tiger Woods PGA tour has always been the best golf game available for the ps3 (and most other consoles) and once again it holds this title. It is, in my view, a very good sports game and one to rank up highly with other available sports games such as the football ones of Pro Evo 7 and Fifa 08.
This game has also had several changes and has improved quite a lot from last year's version.
There are a great variety of modes to play and if you fancy just playing a single game on your own or against your friends then you can choose from a whole variety:
- Stroke play (every stroke counts, lowest score wins)
- Match play (point per hole, whoever wins most holes wins)
- Skins (money pot per hole whoever wins hole wins the pot, if tie carries over)
- Bingo, Bango, Bongo (new mode this year and a very fun one. points for first on green, closest to pin and best score)
- Stableford (points system based upon getting under par)
- Alternate shot (two on two mode. both take turns in hitting same ball - very amusing mode)
- Best ball (4 player 2 teams of 2, best ball from each team counts)
- Four ball ( just normal stroke play with four players, 2 teams)
- Greensome (both drive and then choose best drive from your team and alternate from there)
- Bloodsome (same as above except the toher team chooses which ball you play)
Other Arcade Modes:
- Battle Golf (has to be the best mode in the game - after you win a hole you can choose to remove a club from the opponents bag, except the putter or you can return one to your bag if need be. Great fun when you start to run out of clubs and can't hit it properly.)
- One ball (4 players and you alternate shots and must get within a circle or face missing a turn - first player to get the ball in the hole wins)
- Twenty one (earn21 pints by getting closer to pin)
- Seven (same as above but 7 points)
- Target (earn money by hitting targets with 20 balls)
- Target to target (hit targets in set order)
- T-I-G-E-R (make a shot then friend has to make it or get a letter, lose when you spell tiger)
- And a few others such as longest drive and putt, etc.
You can also start your own career and create your own golfer or use an existing golfer. You can then use your golfer and compete in the PGA tour season by competing in tournament and increasing your skill levels and gaining money from doing well. If you do really well then you can compete in the FedEx cup - a very prestigious cup.
You can also compete in Tiger challenge in which you complete a variety of different challenges and build up in order to play against Tiger and become the ultimate golfer. The challenges range from any of the mode i discussed earlier to driving and putting challenges against different golfers. Throughout this mode you will gain money rewards and unlock more courses and players who can be used in all the other modes.
With the money you win in the career mode, you can visit the pro shop and buy items from clubs and balls to glasses, watches shirts and trousers. These will also contribute to your player's skills and greatly improve your game. As you progress through the game you will also unlock more gear which you can buy.
This game also includes a wide variety of new clubs and golfers. You can even play against Wayne Rooney! This years game includes 21 new professional golfers and several new courses which are all of stunning quality and realism to their real counterparts.
Actually playing the game is very realistic and you face many decisions from which club to use to the angle of elevation of the club. You can also adjust power, power boost and spin on the ball which all contribute to the great quality of this game. You hit the ball by either using the analog stick, or the more traditional 3 click system to choose power and accuracy.
Another new feature this year is confidence in which your shots will also depend on how you did last time you played a certain course, hole or type of shot.
Online play has greatly change with the all new Gamernet where you can save and post you shots, or whole rounds and set them as challenges for other gamers to try and beat. For example you can save that hole in one you got and see if others can do the same. You also gain points for the more challenges you complete and you post. You can however just play a traditional online game against up to 3 other gamers and choose one of the many game modes I mentioned earlier.
Game Face is one of the final new features in which you can use the xbox vision camera, or download a photo from the internet and upload it. The game face will then use the picture to create a character of yourself which you can then use in the game - how cool is that!
New features summary:
* All-new EA SPORTS GamerNet: Online interaction has been taken to the next level. Record everything from your greatest rounds to crazy, awe-inspiring shots, then post each challenge on EA SPORTS GamerNet for the world to beat. * Take on the most professional golfers ever:Featuring the greatest PGA and LPGA Tour pros, including Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh.
Price:£24.99 (play.com) - a good price for a ps3 especially one of this standard!
I really enjoy the Tiger Woods games and this delivers the same standard as the others. Not an awful lot has changed but i say why try and fix something if it is not broken. There are a good variety of golfers to play as and against. Making your own player is really good fun and you can play a career as a pro golfer, a dream realized by only the very best in the world. One downside is that after a few seasons you can get your stats to a point at which controlling any shot with any club is really really easy and it is at that point that you have to look for other ways to challenge yourself. However the feeling of getting that first sponsorship or tournament win is great and you really do find yourself getting in to the game. This game does not disappoint any golf game lovers.
Got this game for free when i bought my PS3 but i never played it because i am not much of a golf fan.So i put it on one day to check it out,Main reason was because i have heard a lot about Photo-Game-Face.
This is where you upload a photo of your self to the game via usb camera,It then Converts your face image and puts it into the game. I would say that this looks awesome.Takes a while to convert the image but worth it.
After you have created your photo game face and made your own golfer, you pick which clothes you want etc,You can buy more clothes for your man once you get more point(Get points by winning Games). So after your golfer is created go onto career mode do this and the more games you play the better your golfer will become. You get entered into tournaments.I found this very hard, kept going in the rough.
I cant really mention the game play because i was not very good on it.The graphics ae what you would expect from a ps3 game,The Graphics on the golfer look amazing but the background is not as good i would say.To take a shot you can either use the Analog Sticks Or just use the Buttons on the joypad.Using the buttons is probably easier to use and take a straight shot.
EA have introduced a new thing into the game where if you take a good shot at the end of the round you can get the choice to save the video of either the last shot or the full round. After saving the Video you gett the chance to upload the video to your own profile on the inernet this is called Gamernet. This is a public profile and it also saves your stats on every game you play on EA.You can then show them to your friends.
The game has the cance to play Single, multiplayer or even play over the internet. I would say that this game is very good but it is not my type of game.would reccomend it to anyone who likes golf.
i dont think iwill be playing this game again not my type will probably sell it.
