Advantages: Online and offline for that matter.
Disadvantages: None at all
I can summarise this game in a few short words really... Tiger Woods 2010 is simply the best golf game ever created and perhaps the most indepth and re-playable sports game ever. This is due partially to the huge single player modes but mainly due to the amazing online modes that will just have you coming back for more, each and everyday.
The Tiger Woods franchise is one of the longest running in the gaming industry and has often been criticised for not really developing greatly year on year and has at times seemed a little bit like an update more than a new game worth parting with £40. However, this latest version cannot be accused of that and I assure you it is worth the money.
Firstly, the usual offline modes are there and these include the enormous PGA Tour mode where you take on opponents in stroke play to earn money and win the overall cup. Along the way you will play in the 4 major tournaments too. Added to this is the excellent Tiger Challenge mode where you have to try and work through events that real life golfers have gone through to earn points and shop money. The shop is really important and can provide a much needed boost to your stats if you can afford the right things.
To start with you have to create your golfer and this is really in-depth without ever feeling endless and this can be done in around 15 minutes. After this you will begin playing golf and building up your power, accuracy, short game and putting stats. these then go up or down depending on your performance and these can also be built upon by working with your coach between rounds. These are all nice touches but now for the real "hole in one"... online mode.
In the week I got this game, the US Open was being played in America and, because that course was in this game, I was able to go online and play four rounds on the course, on pro difficulty, and my scores would be slotted into the real life leader board, in amongst the likes of Tiger Woods and co. These events are on all the time, but you can also enter daily and weekly tournaments, at various difficulty levels. There is nowhere to hide in these tournaments and I especially like the pro events where a restart is not allowed. This online mode is so good that I can't ever see me playing this game offline again. It is like your own golfing community.
I encourage all gaming fans to try this, even if golf is not your game.
Summary: The best sports game ever.
