Advantages: Realistic

Disadvantages: Environments

I never played the original Rainbox Six Vegas, but just picked this one up for £15 from the trade in section. At first I wasn't too impressed by this game, the graphics were good, but nothing like those seen in games like Farcry 2 and Killzone. The Gameplay was OK, but a little repeatitive and I got bored quite soon, and I didn't like the fact that some items in the environment couldn't be damaged - for example, if you unload your gun onto a car, nothing happens, it just sits there, and some windows etc are the same. In this day and age of gaming, I think the environent should respond to your actions and not just the enemies!

This said, I have now found myself completely addicted to this game. As you progress through the easier levels and things start to get tougher, this game really comes into it's own. Suddenly, you don't care that cars and windows don't smash, mainly because you are no longer shooting at them! As the game gets going, you learn to reserve your ammo and aim with care so as not to give your position away or run out of bullets. You go from completing a level with ease to having to really think about your tactics and how to attack a room, sometimes re-doing the same section several times until you choose the best path.

The realism is pretty impressive, especially seen as it only takes 2 shots to kill you. You can't go all Rambo and storm through a room guns a blazing! You need to go slow, ducking for cover behind every pillar and crate, easing your way through the level - if you rush, you die!

So after an initially disappointing start, I now really enjoy this game and find myself totally emerged in each level. It could have been fantastic if the afore mentioned negatives weren't there, but as it is, this is a great FPS game, which given time will grow and grow on you.

Summary: All in all a good game to have in your FPS collection.
