      Transformers War for Cybertron

Transformers: War for Cybertron takes place on the home planet of the Transformers, namely Cybertron. For a long time the robot world is peaceful, but the leader of the Decepticons, Megatron wants to harvest "dark Energon" to increase his power, the glory days of yesteryear and also to revive his enemy to defeat the Autobots. Dark Energon is so dangerous that it can destroy the planet, but Megatron is convinced that he knows how to deal with dark Energon. The first chapters of the story you see through the eyes of the Decepticons. Afterwards it's the Autobots turn.

The story takes place on, in and above the planet Cybertron. Expected certainly no different world, because it looks like most metal. So do not expect trees, grass, mountains, etc. You're often in mechanical environments, but they are not very clinical. Glowing objects on walls, translucent trails underneath a portion of the city, moving fans, tubes with moving objects in it, etc. shall ensure that the environments do not feel too sterile. Also notice that there is war between the Decepticons and the Autobots, because, roads have collapsed and in the background you hear like fighting and explosions. There are enough passages with narrow aisles, but there is also open spaces where you can be shot anywhere. Sometimes in the game you will have to climb up, fly and fall down hundreds of metres to the ground.

I have long doubted if Transformers: War for Cybertron would be something for me, because I was afraid that the world of Cybertron would be monotonous and boring that it was going to be more a shooting game. However I was pleasantly surprised. It is anyway fun to play with both the Decepticons and Transformers and per level to choose from three robots. The world is not sterile and is a mix of open and narrow areas, despite the linear approach succeeded. Also you noticed the further you get in the game, the more difficult it becomes. I had expected a little more different robots and more emphasis on jumping and flying. Especially the flying racing scenes taste for more. Especially compared to similar games the single player mode from Transformers: Cybertron War is quite long. The multiplayer is something i didn't really try out that much, but the many types of multiplayer options and the fact that there are quite a few people play to the game online ensures that the game has even more to offer.

      ps3 game, good

This is my personal review for the following game - Transformers : war for cybertron ps3.

      Release : June 25th 2010

It is so much fun transforming from a car to a transformer, especially the ones which can hover, it provides a decent amount of gameplay fun for both small and older audiences, which provide a very happy family. The modes which you can play on are really great, as on some harder modes there is more stuff which you need to do, which indeed are hard but really fun of course. It has a lot of competitive play in it, which provides excellent sustainable efforts from the makers. The friendly and enemy AI I found was quite poor, which is OK, but I did not really like the sound of it. When they do transform, its done in a boring way, with no such empathy in it what so ever. Its a third person shooter game, which provides you being one transformer at a time, trying to get to high places and beat the enemies etc. Its a 12+ rating, but it would be suitable for ages a bit lower then it, as it don't contain that much violence etc. The bit where you get to drive can really be the most fun part of the game, with some big, some small , some fast and some slow, all the same, just as fun. The campaign is broken up into two parts, one in which you control the decepticons, and the other where you man the autobots, and it's interesting to spend time with the morally opposed factions and see the differences in their demeanor and the manner in which they treat each other. For example, Megatron is a surly, eyes-on-the-prize leader who doesn't take guff from anyone and thinks joking is beneath him. There is 10 levels in the mission mode, which can take around 15 hours or so to complete, depending on how long you play the game. The visuals and graphics are pretty good, with some great surroundings. Same goes with the sounds, it reminds you of the past transformer games, as well as the films. You can change from a vehicle to a transformer when ever you like, which makes it so much more challenging and fun this way. You may need to pick up some ammo on the way if you run low on bullets, and it takes a long time for it to get in, so you better be in a hiding position when you reload. Online mode is pretty straight forward, and double the fun, team up with your friends, with free mode, having races, and completing missions together.

Definitely a good game I enjoyed it alot. Its good, but maybe another transformer game would be better.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Has promise

Now as any gamer will tell you, the vain of our existence are the license title's which plague the shelves in the stores. Their is nothing more annoying than walking in and seeing video games of kids movie titles or games brought out to cash in on a craze.
So I was already suspecting of war for Cybetron, as although I am a fan of the transformers films and cartoons, the idea of a video game after their previous failing titles was not a happy one.

For those of you who are wondering what this Transformer nonsence is, it is a franchise based around two warring robot factions. These are known as the Decepticons (Bad guys) and the Autobots (Good guys), they can transform into numerous shapes like cars , trucks and aeroplanes, as well as being gigantic fighting machinery, they fight on numerous planets including earth and the Autbots often help humans in danger.

On to the game, the story takes place in two parts or two campaigns really. You can play through the game on either the Decepticon side or Autobot, doing slightly different missions and a slightly different narrative, so your getting 2 sides of the coin.
The narrative takes place long before the Megan Fox entrance and the fighting all takes place on the home planet Cybertron although the Decepticon story actually takes place before the Autobot one begins.
I'll give a brief hit of what the two story's entail below :

      - Decepticon , so this story happens first and Megatron is trying to retreive a energon (Dark energy matter stuff) but it is guarded by Starscream, Megatron takes it and becomes more powerful starting a civil war type battle in the Decepticon group.
      - Autobot , Zeta prime is dead and so Optimus take his place and begins to recruit new Transformers to help defend the cities of Cybetron.

Now the stories aren't much , I really have to say that the game relies alot more on it's gameplay and multiplayer features than it does the narrative to carry the game along, the story just seems to be there to support the massive and confusing battles that occur. This isn't a great plan when those features aren't too great either, whilst the game is aimed towards the boys who enjoyed the Transformers movie, I did expect a little bit more than just action.

The game at heart is a 3rd person shooter, but it allows you to play as one of 3 Transformers in every level and the other 2 can be controlled by either AI or another player. However this is only online so if you have a few young boys who want to play the game at the same time, you will need 2 more ps3's , tv's and copies of the game. The AI arent as bad at getting lost as some are but they dont actually seem to do much, apart from giving plot information and jokes.
The multiplayer campaign is Drop in - Drop out style so you can carry on regardless of people leaving, something the Lego games handle remarkably well.
The story does include a leveling system which highly resembles CoD , in getting XP to unlock better weapons , then jumping into the game with a more powerful load out.

Their isn't really a soundtrack, but the sounds of the Transformers are quite good, especially when they are transforming and their is the sound of shifting metal. The guns sound quite cool and electricity sparks sound when you get a headshot on the enemy which is a small touch.

So the game is full of combat, but what can these Transformers do.
Well every battle begins by a laser firing at your 3 robot group, this isn't great as if your not paying attention it can mean destruction without pressing a button. Fighting is done by firing one of your 2 weapons, apart from headshots the game relies on number of bullets hitting until it decides that the enemy should die. A good improvement would be for bits of the Transformer to fall off during battle, giving it a better sense of realism.
There are gun turret sections, but these guns are extremely powerful and have very little restraint so keeping it locked on target is difficult.
Don't expect to have fun with melee either as it is severly lacking with only a few moves, a great shame as the CG cut scenes are full of some great wrestling action between the Bots.
Whilst it is quite satisying to fly into the air before delivering an epic kick to the face ,the game should have worked on this more seeing as it is such an integral part of the gameplay.

You would expect a Transformers game to get one thing spot on for sure though , Transforming. Unfortunatley not, this is as smooth as Englands World cup, feeling like a poor weapon and not one that should change the tide of the game.
Changing to a vehicle is just a fancy way to get to a new point and has no real use what so ever and the form you change to is often less powerful with next to no weapons. Whilst certain abilities come in handy like the jet paks, Optimus prime shouldn't feel like he is motion capped from one of the toys.
Finally the characters have no real weight to them , these massive machines should weigh tonnes but during a free fall section in the game they actually feel very floaty and without any power at all.

A saving grace is the games graphics, with all the Transormers looking like their proper counterparts. These include a host of characters such as Optimus, Megatron, Bumbellbee and Ratchet, there design is very shiny and cool. It's just a shame the game doesn't let us have a good lack at it as the camera is forever swinging around , or making you move at incredible pac, I think it is worth mentioning that the game has a slight Halo look to it, but this may be down to it running of the same engine.
Similarly with the setting, everything is huge and well crafted but you are moving around so much that there just is not the time to enjoy it.

Their isn't really a soundtrack, but the sounds of the Transformers are quite good, especially when they are transforming and their is the sound of shifting metal. The guns sound quite cool and electricity sparks sound when you get a headshot on the enemy which is a small touch.
Big explosions and collision dont pack as much of a punch as I would of liked but at this stage I was making compromises. One of these was the voice acting which was very cheesy and a little cringe worthy at times.

Competitive online multiplayer also makes an appearence allowing for Team deathmatch firefights, as well as CoD style zombie mode in which endless waves of Tranformers attack until you die.
These were fast paced and quite fun, the servers had next to no lag , however the traffic level is dwindling after it's initial release so finding a match can be hit and miss.

The game is Available on Amazon for £34 , but this will become cheap very quickly.

The game has been a mix for reviewers some beleiving its a 9/10 (IGN, although I dont trust their opinion highly) although Games TM gave it a more average 5.

To be honest the game has very little going for it and I cant see what the appeal really is here, it's a pretty average game with a lot of promise but not so much output.

There is about 20 hours of gameplay including the 2 story's and time it takes to tire of Multiplayer. Although DLC is planned , well there would be as this means more money :)
