Turok starts in with a crash and u have to find your way out then you meet a soldier that helps you. He gets killed and you are left on your own to fight for a while. But then you come accross another soldier that hates you but agrees to work with u as you are the only ones left. Graphically wise i think the graphics are reasonable but there are other games with better graphics. The dinosaur AI is very good and they constantly attack you when you are reloading which can be frustrating. Also the online is good if you can find a game (i recommend co-op online). I also think this is a very similar game to Ressistance FOM except there are no aliens. Overall Turok is a good buy.
this is the 5th instalment of the turok series its a first person shooter that throws you into a world filled with mercineries and dinosaurs. you play as turok a member of a elite group of soldiers. the story follows you as you crash land on a planet you know very little about and soon become aware that you are not alone there. there are many ways in which you can use your weapons succesfully to your advantage. why go running in and risk your own health when you can launch a flare in to the mercineries and let the dinosaurs do it for you. the game combines stealth and full blown action with a great enviroment for you to explore. the jungle setting is very realistic and the way you can use rocks and broken trees to your advantage. i prefer playing it as a steatlh game more then a action adventure type by keeping low and using your knife to silently take out your enemies. but it depends on how you wish to play the game. there are many weapons from you to chose from and many different way to use each one. i think this is a brilliant return from the series if like me your into dinosaurs and guns this is a brilliant game for you
I rented Turok for the PS3 to play, I am glad I rented the game first before I actually went out to buy it, as you will find out from my review the reason why.
I have never played any of the Turok series before and actually never knew there was a series till I researched it. I only knew from the ads that this was a shooting game with dinosaurs and that's exactly all it is. This game is the recently well publicised game for the PS3 but in my opinion doesn't live up to what the PS3 is capable of.
As for the game play it is better than the graphics by a long shot. The weapons you get range from sub-machine gun to the bow which work well for the game. I haven't completed the game so don't know what else is on offer but is impressive as far as I played it. All weapons have a secondary fire function which is which is useful. You can lay mines for the dinosaurs and also use flare gun to attract them in to fight each other or even other people. You will soon though get frustrated with killing dinosaurs as the constantly attack you while your trying to load.
The graphics are not as good as I hoped and you can notice the 2D effects of the grass and PS2 like graphics. But the dinosaurs are very well portrayed, visually and movement is realistic also. The water effects are good but the overall jungle environment you are in is not very good at all. Doesn't look up to HD standard at all, looks cheap!
The sounds in the game are quite realistic and do make you feel your in that environment. The dinosaur's sound ok too with there roars especially the T-rex.
Overall Turok is an ok game to play but very repetitive. The graphics will disappoint you and is surly not a next-generation type of game. It's a different type of shoot 'em up mainly due to the dinosaurs. Not the best PS3 shoot 'em up but an ok play. I would definitely recommend you rent this first before you think about buying it.
