This game was released before the Euro 2008 competition it self. The game featured teams like Portugal,Italy,Spain,France and Germany.
A lot of the controls in the game are quite simple and the gameplay is easy to pick up for anyone whose been playing the Fifa series. The graphics in the game are impressivea lot of the players look real like Steven Gerrard,David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo. The arenas in the game are also realistic looking.
Moving onto the gameplay the game was similar to Fifa 2008 in many ways however it was a little different. Scoring goals against the CPU from a far distance for example 25 yards seemed impossible for me! The shots would either go wide or high in the sky no matter what level I played against the CPU this seemed to be a problem for me.
However when taking players on and being close range goals it was goals guaranteed always! The game play was smooth and good. You could do all the tricks you could do on Fifa 2008 and to be honest there was not much difference between the games.
Apart from being able to play the one tournament in the game there is not much else to do in the game. Yes you can play against your friend but the game should have some other modes or at least the option of creating your own international league or something as after playing the Euro you get bored of the game easily!
Overall we know why games like these get released simply to make money before a tournament and thats exactly what the case was with this one.
I would never personally have gone out and bought this. I prefer to play with teams rather than countries. Also with England not in the competition it did not tempt me into buying it. How ever my mate bought it and we have been playing it.
Usually once a week 3 friends and I will met up at one of our houses and play some playstation for a couple of hours. We always used to play Fifa on the PS3 and 2 of us play each other while 2 watch then swap over and visa versa.
My friend bought this game for a couple of quid from the video game shop and we have been playing it for the past 3 weeks now and its great.
The graphics are good, the game play is good and its realistic. They show clips of the manager on the side line giving out intructions which makes it more life like.
The main reason we play this game as all 4 of us can play on the same side. We pick a country we want to play with and each pick a player from that country and start the whole process of qualifying and then going onto try and win the Euros
Another good function which isn't on any other game is, at the start of the game rather than just going straight to the game, you can go and do a penalty shoot out. Most games you cannot do this. All 4 of us can play in one penalty shoot out. 2 on one team, 2 on the other.
A great game for about £3.
With my country Scotland, not playing in another major football tournament, i was wondering if this game would be worth me buying.
However with being a football game addict I knew i would buy it eventually and right enough i did. Brilliant decision by me.
Graphics visually stunning, and very enjoyable with staidums looking amazing and players looking realistic with good strips.
made by EA sports so as usual Holland arent correct which is disappointing since they are a top European team.
Make histroy in the game by playing as your team, even if they didnt qualify and try and make them qualigy and go on to win Euro 2008. Although this is just like a seaon in fifa, i find it alot more enjoyable due to the knockout stages and group formats.
A new and improved gameplay, means the game is the ultimate football simulation game ever with skills being improved and you can celebrate the way you want when you score, a brilliant feature.
Captain your country as you push for glory, create yourself and take your team to the final and lift the cup yourself, giving yourself the chance to fulfill your dreams.
Online mode is brilliant as you battle against other teams online, watch out though, people that go Spain, are almost certain to win, as they are so far ahead in stats.
A good football game, however with Fifa 09 out now and Fifa 2010 on the way in late this year, this game now might be a bit out of date unless you can pick it up for around £10.
I wasn't going to buy this game as England weren't in the European Championships but after the demo was added to Playstation Store and I was very impressed. The game was great and much improved from FIFA 08.
The game follows the European Championships and has many modes from the tournament to Be A Captain (Be A Pro but captain your country). This provides lots of choice and lots of gameplay options. You won't ever get bored. You can play as England if you start your own qualifing campaign so this is a good addition but not all countries are included.
The graphics are very good and will impress everyone on a HDTV. The layout of the game is also very simple and looks great. It is very easy to use and anyone can use it. The game has a good soundtrack and the commentary never gets boring. The game has no framerate issues so it runs very smooth.
The game has much improved from FIFA 08 and has added lots of things including fantastic celebrations and improved gameplay.
However, FIFA 09 has improved on this alot more and should be picked up instead. If you want a cheap game to play and love the European Championships then don't miss this game! Try the demo on the PS Store if you are not sure.
I had no interest for a game of the Euro 2008, simply cause as a country, we failed miserably to reach the tournament. I couldn't have cared less if it was on offer, i didn't want it. Then, one thursday morning i woke up and went on my PS3 and checked the PS store, which has all new downloadable content (added every Thursday) and stumbled across a demo for this. I download the majority of demos and i'm a big fan of football games so i just downloaded this one as it was free. Little did i know it were to be the best demo i have played. It was fantastic. Upon starting up the game you are met with great graphics and a good lay-out. The gameplay that i was expecting to be so similar to the boring, same old same old fifa gameplay was completly different. It wasn't so scripted and you could actually win by being skillful, not just intercepting a keepers pass or a fault from the opposition. I bought this game on release day and was not dissapointed as the Captain Your Country game mode is brilliant and England are on it so I managed to become Englands captain. All round a great game and i'm hopeful Fifa 09 will lead on from this.
Every time a major football championship comes around it is pretty much obligatory a game comes out at the same time, many of these *cough* world cup 2002 *cough*, have been massively disappointing which left me unsure about this game. However how wrong I was to worry, what a brilliant game! The game is made by the same company that produce FIFA every year, EA sports, and they seems to have ironed out many of the issues that come with FIFA year in, year out like the massively annoying scripted nature of play. This is slick and smooth and rewards skillful play, rather than the odd lucky breaks that seem to win games in FIFA. It incorporates a wide variety of game options like qualifying for the main tournament itself and my personal favorite is 'captain your country' where you try to lead your nation to glory. The online play is also fantastic fun as you test your skills against players from around Europe. Much more entertaining that some of the football that has been on offer in the tournament proper so far, Austria VS Poland springs to mind. . .
