Advantages: Incredible graphics and unrivalled gameplay and depth of techniques
Disadvantages: The menu system is very slow and tedius, no Randy Coutre
UFC Undisputed is an authentic, realistic mixed martial arts game from creators THQ (who also produce the WWE smackdown franchise).
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is the fastest growing sport in the world and it's easy to see why. MMA matches allows competitors to fight in an almost 'no holds barred' contest which is great for the viewing public, if you blink you really may miss the action!
Despite the sport being so popular and lucrative MMA games have always been rather uninspiring and ultimately dissapointing, until now!
With the launch of UFC undisputed the fast paced, enthralling action of MMA can be enjoyed by everyone (over 15 years of age!) that owns a console.
The gameplay is superb, you really are in complete control of your fighter with the circle, triangle, x, and square buttons controlling left and right sided kicks and punches and the left shoulder buttons determining the hight of your attaks the stand-up game is very easy to get used to, this is great for when oyu play your friends as they should be able to get to grips with the controls instantly. The ground game has such depth to it that it adds great longevity to the game as the more you play, the better you become. Its refreshing to play a combat game where a player who just bashing buttons doesn't neccersarily win, in fact I believe that UFC undisputed perhaps takes more skill then any other combat game avaliable.
The game modes are good, theres exibihition mode as you would expect, classic fights, career mode (with create a fighter options) and a comprehensive tutorial which I would recommend highly.
You can also take the game online and use the wide range of fighters avaliable a created fighter in both ranked and unranked matches to prove that your the best.
The graphics and motion gameplay are outstanding and it feels very real, but I feel more detail should have gone into the cut scenes that games have, the addition of octogon entrances would have been a nice touch.
Overall an excellent game for all fans of MMA or anybody who likes to release stress by pounding away at somebody legally!
Summary: A great MMA effort from THQ which is more realistic and deeper then any of their wrestling titles
