The game used to be very team based but this has changed alot and is now more of a story based 1 player game. This makes it better and gives it a better replay value.
The graphics are very good but not the best on Playstation 3. Other titles including COD 4 beat this. The soundtrack is very fun and the game has no framerate issues.
You help your army defend against attacking invaders and you can still play the old capture the flag and team deathmatch games.
The gameplay is very fun but needs the keyboard and mouse that the PS3 supports to get the best out of it. The game does get a little repetitive as the levels are similar but you can import home made levels from the internet. This gives it great depth and lots of replay value.
The online is very fun and the best part of the game. However, it is online only so you can't play if your mate comes round. Also, the online isn't played very often now, making it hard to find a game. However, if you can get some mates together, it is a great time.
Overall, the game is really good and fun to play with mates.
Unreal Tournament III changed from it's usual 'be the winning team' gameplay to a more story driven campaign. If you ask me, it's better than before.
You now follow your team as you fight back an army of attacking invaders. Yet still using the same system of capture the flag and frag levels etc, it has not changed much.
Graphics are amazing, but can be a bit lackluster compared to titles like Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, but it still delivers a rich picture of a next gen game.
Gameplay is very intuitive, but if you are not good with a console pad, you can always plug in your keyboard and mouse, a nice addition they have added to the game. The only problem here is the game can be quite repetitive, completing similar levels over and over again. That is if you play the campaign. The PS3 version of the game allows you to import new maps and mods created by the fan community and this overall increases variety of levels.
The multiplayer, firstly the PS3 version does not allow 2 player split screen gaming, so you cannot play against your best friend sitting next to you. This was a real disappointment and even worse now that the multiplayer over the internet has less players playing each day. So if you're looking forward to playing against other people, you're going to be alone.
Overall, this game is a great stress reliever, you can annihilate enemies if your boss did you wrong! The graphics wont disappoint, and it has enough re-playability to last you for a long while. Yet multiplayer can be a big negative if you enjoy playing against others.
I had extremely high expectations for this game. I've been a fan of the Unreal Series for years, and I figured Unreal Tournament 3 would be great. When I first laid eyes on the commercials, it gave me visions of the first Unreal game. I expected a deep storyline, mixed with exciting gameplay.
But with the terrible story mode (that frankly didnt make a lot of sense. Seriously what does captor the flag and team death match games have to do with stopping an invading force), and even worse cut scenes. I'd say I was very disappointed.
Though it wasn't all bad, Online game play was enjoyable (Fast paced, short respawn time). The graphics were as advertised (outstanding). Also the uniqueness and variety of weapons, along with the personalities of the different characters I found to be very refreshing.
But, shiny new Graphics and weapons, don't make a good game. You need substance,
