A hardcore fighting game (Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3))

This is another game I recently purchased for only a fiver from ebay. In recent years it seems to be that Tekken and SoulCalibur have become more popular. However, Virtua Fighter has always been considered to be a game for the hardcore. You have to learn the moves, you can't just tap random buttons and expect to win.

Upon first booting the game in the PS3, I had mixed thoughts. The graphics vary from impressive to nothing special. This can depend on the camera angle and the stage. When the camera zooms in onto the characters faces in the opening sequence you can see highly detailed textures with smooth animation. The design and the amount of detail put into each character is impressive, the characters also move with a sense of realism. Sometime it's like watching a 3D movie.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, its the same as the previous Virtua Fighter series. People with either like it for what it is or find the game boring. It takes time and patience to learn the moves so for anyone who wants to quickly pick up the games for the first time and have a few rounds, they may find this game frustrating.

For anyone who appreciates the Virtua Fighter series, this game is highly recommended, however for those who like button bashing games such as Soul Calibur or Tekken, they may be slightly underwhelmed by this game.
