This is one of those movie-based games and I for one had to get this game on the Playstation as I loved the movie of the same name when it was originally released. Some are not that good but this game is the exception and is a pretty decent game.
If you've never seen the movie then the story in the game follows the same plot as the movie itself. There are a few exceptions but generally speaking it does. Every ant's job is to server the grasshoppers and this particular band of grasshoppers is run by the famous Hopper. When the grasshoppers are off flying around somewhere an ant gathers grain to put into the grain pile. After a few months the grasshoppers return to gather their grain while the ants hide in their anthill.
However, on one occassion an inventive ant named Flik drops his invention on to the grain pile meaning every single piece of grain lands in a puddle so no more grain! They are given a last chance by the grasshoppers and Flik is sent away by the furious ants. He has to search the city for extra bugs to help them collect more grain. The game is made more exciting with Flik having to fight bosses on the levels which he didn't do in the movie.
There are 15 levels in this game and in each level you can only play as one character whether that be Flik or another one. Most of the levels involve you having to find stuff like in the first one where you have to find the entrance to the anthill.
In each mission, you'll meet your enemy insects. You don't run away from them like cowards. Which brings me to my title...you throw berries (of different colors) at them! You can throw different kinds of berries: the weakest berry is the green one, the strongest one is the golden berry. You look for power-ups (a floating berry in the air), or grow a berry plant and claim your berries from there (more on that later), to throw different kinds of berries. Berries are unlimited and you don't have to spend time looking for berries!
The game is a 3D platformer. That means, you can explore the place. The puzzles are very easy in the first level but get harder as you progress through the game. There are also in addition secrets in the game. You can collect letters to make up the name Flik. If you do this you get a free cut-scene that you can view at any time.
The controls are relatively simple in this game and easy enough to master too. The graphics are nice enough and have enough texture and details to the characters and the backgrounds. As far as the sound goes the music is taken from the movie. It is really good and I liked it alot.
Overall the gameplay and music are what makes this game decent and I enjoyed playing it alot. I would recommend to anyone who loves family games and puzzle games.
Summary: Overall, a great game for kids and adults alike
