Age of Empires, along with Civilization have both been around for quite a few years and have got to be two of the most played and enjoyed games of their genre. I personally love the both of them and spent many a day (or should I say week) building up my armies, stockpiling vital resources, etc. So when Age of Empires 2 (Age of Kings) came out, I thought I would be playing it on an even more regular basis (if that was possible), but due to getting connected to the Internet and finding sites like Ciao, I found myself playing games a lot less often. In recent weeks I have been trying to catch up on my game playing and I have been going through some of my old ... Read the complete review

Age of Empires II gives you the opportunity to take control of your own civilisation, and to conquer the world with it. You start off with a town centre, a few villagers and a scout cavalry unit. From these humble beginings, you have to explore, expand and exploit the world. The world is viewed from above, to one side. Each unit has a certain field of vision, and different types of units have a different sized field of vision; certain civilisation advances can increase the size of these fields. Areas of the map which have not yet entered a field of vision cannot be seen, and areas that your units have come across can be seen. If you leave an area and so have no ... Read the complete review

First of all, before you install this stunning game onto your computer, be sure you have an hour or two to spend with it. Once you start you won't be able to stop....until you get bored, obviously! The wide variety of teams is my favourite part. You can choose from the vikings to the celts, all the teams with their special secrets. This game has characters that will make you feel like a midieval conquerer. Archers, cavalry, infantry and artilary, the lot! Separate them all into their regiments, then you'll have the enemy wetting their pants. It wouldn't be a good game without the historic campaigns. Imagine yourself as William Wallace, raising the ... Age Of Empires is a knights game on the computer and you try to defeat the enemy and you are victorious and if your defeated then you lose. You have to get all your villagers and get things like wood and food and gold and stone and soldiers. You make a village and then you look for relics and you get three relics and you win. That is number six but sometimes I paly daddys games. You are the goodies and you have an enemy who kills you and allies whoare your frineds and you all have a colour and it is good. You can get Dark Age, Feudal Age, catsle age, Imperial Age and if you are very good you get medals or cups and all the soldiers are my favourites actually but I ... Read the complete review

I was attracted to this 'god' game by positive feedback I'd heard from some friends on the Net. They spoke of a game that would replace Civilisation as my all time favourite (I confess to not being a great fan of first person shooters and the like as I have notoriously slow reflexes!). I purchased Age of Empires II: Age of Kings for £19.99 and rushed home to experience a new 'addiction'. After an odd Microsoft animation and then a more pleasant scene setting one I was in the game. I started by playing the tutorial scenario based on William Wallace fighting the English. This was very useful as it introduced the games techniques for controlling ... Read the complete review
