Advantages: Brilliant gameplay, particulary in two player and is simple to pick up

Disadvantages: Annoyingly cute graphics and music

Here's a simple one to get yor head around. Fire coloured bubbles at the roof of the playing area. get 3 or more the same colour and they burst earning you points and clearing the way. Any left hanging in mid-air after bursting some bubbles drop off giving you even more points from a chain reaction. If the buubles raech below a certain point at the bottom of the play area then you lose.

Look away from the bright cartoony graphics, ignore the mad chicken noises and forget about the annoying animated characters in the background. This game is purely about simplistic puzzling fun. You can start playing it from the moment you pick up the joypad. There are a good variety of modes to choose from. Story mode involves filling a computer opponents screen with bubbles by using combos to send dropped ones over to block the computers way. You play increasingly difficult opponents until you reach the end. Time trial involves clearing a screen of bubbles in as little time as possible. Puzzle mode puts you in increasingly harder formations of bubbles and it is your challenge to remove them before they reach the bottom with the added problem of a lowering roof.

However the most fun aspect is not the single player modes which grab your attention for a very short period of time. The two player bubble battle is great. You've got to keep clearing your bubbles while maintaining a staedy flow of combos to flood your mates screen. Hardly Doom but it is surprisingly addictive.

This is a good buy for £20 or as little as £10 for the two player frolics. The only thing missing is an infinite mode so you can go for high scores with no descending roofs or opponents to beat, just like the old tetris. As the sequels to this game are practically the same then it is worth just sticking to the cheapest version talked about here.
