Advantages: Similar in some ways to Metal Gear Solid, Interesting ideas involved, not just a simple shoot-em-up
Disadvantages: Unoriginal, predictable storyline, Graphics could be better
When I first heard of C-12: Final Resistance I was in my local Woolworths, looking for a gun-based action game to fill my time. After looking at the case C-12 seemed to look a bit like the highly successful Metal Gear Solid, and C-12 was high in the games charts, so I decide to take a chance and buy this game to fulfil my needs for a new action game.
And this game did not disappoint! C-12 is based on the storyline that aliens are invading and are proving too powerful for the humans to deal with, so the strongest soldier available, Vaughan, has been given some alien technology to help him fight the invaders from outer space.
You play as Vaughan, beginning in a street area with an objective of finding an outpost and rescuing your allies as well as destroying any aliens you encounter.
There are several interesting control features in C-12, one of them being a Metal-Gear-Solid-like view that allows you to zoom and examine items and surroundings, with descriptions available.
Also available after you collect it quite early in the game is an alien shield. By pressing Triangle you will be surrounded by a barrier that aliens can’t break. On the downside, this shield runs out unless you collect more, and you can’t shoot whilst using it.
You begin with a blade as a weapon which is not the best for combating aliens but is useful for destroying alien barriers. Soon you will collect more impressive weapons such as machine guns and the like.
There are many different techniques you will need to employ to get through the game, from quick reflexes to your ability to just shoot well to stealth. With most parts of the game I have come across you simply need to wait for a moment and look around and take in everything before rushing out all guns blazing, a classic example of this is the first boss, an alien tank.

t the alien tank if you run out and shoot you will probably die, but if you look around you will see a turret, Run up the stairs and use the turret to blow the tank to smithereens.

C-12 does have its flaws, the storyline can be predictable and the graphics could be better, but overall it is a pretty good action game that makes you think at times about what to do next.
I haven’t got terribly far in the game yet, I will update this opinion once I have completed the game to provide a lot more information. From what I have seen so far, I certainly recommend this game especially to people who liked Metal Gear Solid or Syphon Filter as it is similar in many ways to those two more famous titles.
