Sometimes I feel that I am the only person in the world that owns Circuit breakers. The amount of publicity it got when it was released was abysmal. Overshadowed by the inferior Micro Machines, Circuit Breakers was truly left in the shade. This is a minor travesty that such an enjoyable game can be overlooked like this.

Circuit breakers is a game along the same lines as Micro Machines as it is a top down racer. However there is no focus on characters like there is in Micro Machines. Its just you, a cute car and the track, pure simplicity.

There are 4 types of car available each in two colours, a beetle type car, an old skool F1 racer, a Lamborghini looking car and an F1 type car. They all go the same speed but handle differently. This makes multi-player gaming much more fair.

The one player mode is quite shallow as there is not many tracks, around 13 in all. However as you progress through the game, cheats become available such as reverse courses, night courses and upside down which is incredibly difficult.

The multi-player mode is what this game was really made for though. It is possibly the best Playstation Party game alongside Worms Armageddon. Up to four players can take part in single screen racing. The cars race around the track of which only a small section is visible and when a car drops behind the leader to the extent where it is no longer viewable it loses. Sounds complicated but trust me, it makes for good gameplay. Points are awarded depending on whether you are the last car left on the screen or the first to disappear.

The speed of the game is fairly fast and the graphics are reasonable. There are plenty of mad power ups littered around the tracks such as mini car (extra speed) and fat car (ability to squash other cars).

The entertainment when playing this game with 3 mates is absolutely through the roof. It really is a game for parties. Forget Micro Machines with its weird character,
dodgy graphics and less than satisfying gaming experience and get this, you will be pleased that you did
