This is yet another budget release from Midas in 2003, and its surprisngly good.
Cleopatra Fortune is sort of a combination of Bust-A-Move and Tetris, with an Egyptian flavour to the action. The idea is to 'entomb' gems using blocks, thus making the gems dispurse. You can also make rows of blocks to trigger the same reaction.
The game has four main modes - Arcade, Time Trial, Mystery and Vs. Arcade is the one-player version where you just try to survive long enough to get a stack of points and Vs. is the two-player mode, but the main innovations come in form of Mystery and Time Attack.
Mystery mode involves playing through seventy set challenges in which you must clear the screen of blocks/gems in a certain amount of moves, this seems simple enough in the early levels, but reach around level twenty and things get mind-bogglingly difficult! Time Attack basically sets the challenge of completing ten levels of action in the fastest, most efficient way possible. Finsh it and you are graded as to your speed and maximum combo chain.
It's a well presented game with nice menus and a host of likeable animations, but it obviously doesn't push the PlayStation to its limits being a puzzle game. Priced at just over £6, you should find this decent value, especially if you are into puzzle games.
All in all then there is a fair bit of fun to be had here, and though it can get pretty frustrating at times because of the complex nature of the game, the enjoyment and high-score opportunities will keep you coming back for more.
