This game was, for a long time, the ONLY rally game worth buying on any format. It was, and still is a milestone in what rally driving games should be like. The best thing about Colin McRae Rally was: not that the graphics were damn good (Which they were; infact it was and still is one of the best looking Playstation games about, with a lovely looking 3d engine that goes at a mighty fine pace when you put your right foot down), not the fact that the sound was very nice indeed (yes, it actually sounded very much like the real thing, which makes a change because most driving games sound like the designers have never been near a car nor heard that they have petrol engines, not loud fart-noise producing boxes inside), but that it actually handled and played fantastically. The only game which has actually come close to handling as nicely, and playing as nicely (sorry about repeating the word nicely!) is the sequel, Colin McRae Rally 2 (and possibly the Rally mode on GT2 - but that's another matter). My only quibble with this game is that I'd like to have more cars involved because the choice is slightly limited, saying that though it does have some nice features like proper damage, which you'll have to take into account with limited times between legs (ie you might not have time to repair all of the damage between runs). To sum up, if you want a superb rally game with some excellent options and features, with superb graphics and sound and above all playability to keep Colin himself happy (well, maybe not him but the rest of us) this is the game for you, and since you can pick it up for less than £20 on platinum, it's a steal. PS. Something I would recommend you try alongside Colin McRae is a decent Playstation steering wheel which can be picked up for around £40, they're pretty good and they'll improve your playing experience. After that, try Colin McRae 2, if you enjoy this, i
t's the next one for you!
