Crash Team Racing (PS)

I bought Crash Team Racing for the PS1 a few years ago as it's a platinum game so I purchased it for around £15. I'd played Crash Bandicoot before and loved it so this seemed like a good spin-off. I dug it out the other day and thought I'd have 5 minutes on it for old times sake...ended up sat there for a few hours with a grin on my face like a little kid. The winner is the person who buys this game! We (the whole family) have the other Crash Bandicoot games and thought that Crash 3 was the near as possible the complete family game. Crash Team Racing (CTR) races ahead by a mile! It’s another ‘Naughty Dog’ produced game and so it’s got to be a winner going on previous games (Crash 3 for example). As an aside, Microsoft has signed them up to produce and develop games for the X-box (new gaming machine going to be launch 2001-2), which will be a huge blow to Sony and the Playstation. A little bit of childhood gaming nostalgia prompted me to write this review. The PlayStation was a brilliant console back in the day with stars like Spyro the dragon and of course Lara Croft and Crash Bandicoot amongst others. I don't really care for the technical upgraded versions that keep getting released as I just like good, fun video games not a games console that can open my can of Fanta or something. This racing game made the PS1. It was the best multiplayer racing game you would play. Just simliar to mario kart in its style but however they have their own spin on everything, it was very well crash like. The tracks were great fun espcially if you have a multitap on your ps1. But the fun part was the battles and the races all the power ups you can use are brilliant, and characters like Tiny etc are awesome. The single player mode had to be my favourite as when I was playing this game I used to find it difficult as it was one of my first racing games and it really brings back good memories when you play a game like this. This game has got to be my favourite childhood game. This _Naughty dog_ production was made very popular when it was first released onto the Sony Playstation. In my opinion it clearly outcompeted its rival; Mario Kart on the Nintendo 64. As with all cartoon games it has the classic storyline of defeating a boss character to save the world from total annihilation. In this game it is a Nitros Oxide character that threats planet Earth. In the adventure mode of this game u start out in a world of many different possible races.
