This game has got to be my favourite childhood game. This _Naughty dog_ production was made very popular when it was first released onto the Sony Playstation. In my opinion it clearly outcompeted its rival; Mario Kart on the Nintendo 64.

As with all cartoon games it has the classic storyline of defeating a boss character to save the world from total annihilation. In this game it is a Nitros Oxide character that threats planet Earth. In the adventure mode of this game u start out in a world of many different possible races. As you zoom off in your little kart looking for a different adventure, you immediately realise that this game is a good buy. The countless race tracks keep you entertained for hours. The aim of adventure is to gain "keys" and "tokens" to unlock new worlds and battle it out against new bosses until you reach the final race against Nitros Oxide, in which you must put all that practise to good use to prevent the destruction of the Earth. As you work your way through the single player adventure you get help from your famous enemies along the way.

The general concept of the _arcade_ game mode is similar to that of all other cartoon racing games. This is to finish in 1st place above the other competitors using a vast arsenal of weapons to slow down your enemies. These weapons are collected from driving your cart through small wooden crates. There is a wide range of weapons that you can collect. The quality of the weapons are usually awarded based on the position you are in the race. A player in first position will quite likely receive a less valued weapon than a player in last position, which makes the game play a little fairer. The bonus of this game is you can have 4 friends playing it at a time with use of a multitap making it more intense.

Finally, the _vs_ mode divulges in even more playable maps. On these maps you can battle against your friends by collecting weapons and scoring hits off your opponent by racing around the map and firing your weapons at the other competitor. The winner is determined by whoever reaches a certain number of "kills" first or whoever has the most "kills" after a certain time limit.

This is a great game with various activities to keep your attention and several of the maps have hidden shortcuts which can give u that extra advantage over your friends to make the game that little bit more exciting.

Summary: A great game suitable for all ages and lots of fun
