Those of you that know me will also know about my popstar dancing queen mad 7 year old daughter. I've written this review as this game turned out to be her top favorite pressie this christmas ( and ours! )

The Rave Station Dance Mat is endorsed by Marc ET, World Freestyle Dance Champion and marathon dance Guiness record holder.

What you need to play.

A Playstation. ( you know what this is! ) PS1 or 2.

A Rave Station.

Basically, The Rave Station is a durable plastic mat that you plug into the joypad socket of your Playstation 1. Instead of using your agile fingers to control characters in a game, you've got to use your feet to win. The mat is a large square, with 4 big arrows on it ( Left, Right, Up, Down ). It also has elect / start, and the four shape keys. Now this method of control probably wouldn't suit most games, but for Dancing Stage Euromix it's fantastic. The mat does come with 4 sticky pads to hold it securely to the floor, but they'd be no good on carpet ( we have laminate and they work just fine )

Dancing Stage Euromix Game.

I first came across this game a couple of years ago, in an arcade at a holiday camp. Basically, you pick one of the tunes on offer, then follow the arrows or character ( depending on difficulty level ) on the screen, basically using your feet to hit the correct arrows. The Playstation version is almost identical, it really is like having a ' proper ' modern arcade game in your house ( except it doesn't cost a quid every 3 minutes )
You can start on the practice levels first ( the lessons ) to help you get used to the controls, then move on to the Arcade version., choosing from beginner ( quite slow ) to the very fast harder stages. There is also a ' workout ' mode, where you can enter your weight, choose a calorie amount to burn off, then dance your way to skinnydom. Fantastic.

I found it very hard to perfect the arrow
stamping skills that are required for this game, but before I knew it, I was addicted! And at least it's quite a healthy addiction...beats sitting on my fat a**e in front of my pc anyway ;)

Tunes Included on Dancing Stage Euromix.

So Good - Boyzone
(Much Mambo) Sway-Shaft
Word Up - Cameo
Rushing - Loni Clark
Video Killed The Radio Star- The Buggles
I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
More Than This '99-Emmie
Magic Alec - Magic Alec Presents Resonance
Tubthumping - Chumbawamba
Kung Fu Fighting - Bus Stop
Stomp To My Beat - JS 16
Holiday - Who's That Girl?
Dub I Dub-Me and My
Captain Jack-Captain Jack

There are also several other tunes, that were written for the game.

I've got to say, we haven't had a single toy in the house that's caused quite as much animosity as this one.....the 3 of us are constantly fighting for our dance time! Great way to keep fit though, and I guess this sort of game play is better in the long run for the kids.

OMG TY Fishbulb!!!! I hate Boyzone! And the sound of Mambo no 5 is starting to grate on the nerves a little. I'm checking it out even as I type this lol.
