Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX focuses the aggressive spirit and tremendous energy of BMX riding into an accessible, trick-based action videogame for the Dreamcast, Game Boy Color and PlayStation. Riders are given an open track, a set of tricks and a bike - the rest is up to them. The challenge: take their rider from zero to hero in their very own freestyle BMX career. Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX features: The only BMX game to feature Dave Mirra, 10-time World Champion. Aspiring pros can play as Dave himself, and ride on all his favourite tracks, or they can compete against Dave as another superstar rider, such as Ryan Nyquist, Kenan Harkin, Chad Kagy, Leigh ... If you, like most young adults in the world, own a Playstation or Playstation One gaming console, then you simply must NOT pass up Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX! I found a copy for twenty dollars (U.S.) at an Army Post Exchange store in August. Even with that discounted price, the prices of all PS and PS1 titles are falling due to the popularity of their successor, the PS2 (I want it! I want it!) Anyway, back to this incredible game. If you're familiar with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, then you'll be pleased to know that DMFB utilized the same game engine: In other words, they are similar in appearance, controls, graphic capabilities, et cetera. ... Playing the Maximum Remix version of Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX bothers me in the same way as the original did. It's not because it's a bad game, although I don't think it's an exceptionally good one -- more, it's because there are some aspects of the game that I like very much, and some that I don't like one bit. Unfortunately, when it comes to judging the game as a whole, it's the dislikes that win, spoiling the entire game. Maximum Remix adds new frills, in fact quite a lot of them -- new levels, new music, new tricks, and new stat-tracking categories -- but it doesn't change anything about the game on a fundamental level.
