Now this is an original game. It's nice to find every once in a while that software developers sit down for a bit, and decide to design a game which is different to most of the other stuff out there. Original games don't crop up very often (couple of times a year now) but when they do, they generally cause quite a stir. Driver is one of these games. It's a superb 3d driving game, which most people like to describe as "3d GTA!", but really it's not quite like that. The basic idea of the game is simple. You are Tanner, an ex racing driver, turned undercover policeman. You go undercover as a driver for a big crime family, attempting to get to the bottom of their organisation. Unfortunately for you, the police in the four areas you'll work in (LA, Miama etc) don't know who you are, so they try and catch you like any other criminal, ramming you off of the road and such. You're given missions which are very simple in principle to achieve on behalf of your new criminal partners, for example, taking a package from point A to point B. This all sounds very easy, but then you add realistic traffic (with traffic lights, traffic rules, cars and police) and things get difficult. Chuck in a few optional extras like wet weather, a time limit and night driving and then they get very difficult. There are different play modes included, such as the actual "campaign" style mode where you go through the game mission by mission and follow the storyline, or you can go for a drive in different places for the hell of it. It's great fun to play and it's very challenging too, so it'll keep you busy for a long time and the actual car dynamics are also very good, so it won't make you go: "oh, come on! it wouldn't do that!". Plus, the storyline, graphics and sfx are all up to scratch, all in all a superb package with some great fun to be had. Highly recommended.
Have a look through some of my other opinions and please, leave some comments, I'd love to know what you think of my opinions guys!
