Advantages: Addictive, Great sounds, Great gameplay
Disadvantages: Difficult at times
After the sucess of Driver they brought out Driver 2. Can it get any better that Driver - Oh of course. Both games interlock with each other quite a lot. The gameplay is pretty much the same, as are the graphics, sounds and playability. You are an under cover cop working in the underworld and are tasked to achieve various missions. These vary from getting from one end of town to the other, to smashing cars up, chasing get away cars and chasing monorail trains. To start with you are able to "take a drive" which gives you a choice of 2 cities, Chicago, and Havana. Take a drive is just a chance to get to know the cities by driving around anyhow you wish. Be careful though, drive too fast and you will have a load of police on your tail. Cut people up, drive through a red light, drive on the wrong side of the road or burn the road up and you'll be on a getaway from the cops! The police are relentless in this game and will continue to hunt you and smash your vehicle up. Luckily though in this game once you manage to loose the police, you can get out of your vehicle and car jack someone else and that reduces your "Felony" to zero. There are a variety of vehicles to choose from once in the game from your usual saloon to a fire truck! Once you get to know the cities quite well you can then venture on to "Undercover". This will let you go out an do all the missions in the game. They start of quite easy but soon build up to be difficult. You will need to repeat many of the missions over and over again to choose the best route possible and to achieve the best possible time. In the corner of the screen is a little map and depending on where you have to go, there will be a black arrow pointing to it. To get the map up in clearer detail you simply pause the game and click on "show map" and that brings up the entire city. By s
ucessfully completing missions you gradually unlock the other two cities. First you unlock Las Vegas and then Rio de Janerio. The sounds on Driver 2 are slighlty better than the first one. For instance, in Chicago, if you drive past the stadium to the North, you will hear the crowd cheering. Very realistic!! This game will have you addicted! Beware! The cities are massive and there are so many places for you to look at. If you haven't seen Driver 1, then do so and take a look at New York - you could spend all week driving round that and still find something new! This game will last you a while and is well worth the money. This game is a must!
