Hail to the king! (Two Disc Adventure) That right the evil is back again and more horrid than ever. I don’t know if many of you remember this Game in the movies. It was once a film that was banned due to the natural of graphical horror shown and there were rumours that people who saw the film suffered from a heart attack. (GUYS DON’T BELIEVE IT) I’ve only had this game for about a week and I must say it is quite addictive! HISTORY OF THE STORY ------------------------------------ There was three-film release for this movie and is very important to know as the game carries on from there. The Evil Dead ------------------- Five friends go to a cabin in the woods for a vacation. They discover The Book of the Dead and a tape recorder that once belonged to a professor. They play back what is recorded on the tape-- which just happens to be Candarian resurrection passages translated from to Necronomicon (Book of the Dead). The passages unleash an Evil force from the woods. People start turning into deadites, and they soon learn from the tape that the only way to kill a deadite is by total body dismemberment. Death comes painful to the vacationers, and Ash ends up as the only one alive. The film ends with the evil rushing into a terrified Ash. The Evil Dead II ---------------------- This times only Ash and his girlfriend visit the cabin. The tape recorder gets played, bringing the Evil and turning the girlfriend into a deadite. Ash is forced to kill her by chopping off her head with a shovel. Ash is alone and we see the Evil rush into him at full speed. That ends the quick and very different remake, then the sequel begins. Ash is thrown into the woods by the evil rushing into him, which also causes him to turn into a deadite. Dawn saves Ash's soul turning him back into human. Ash tries to leave the woods, but the bridge is completely destroyed. So he is force
d to go back to the cabin for the evening. That night the dead girlfriend climbs out of her grave and attacks Ash. Her severed head bites Ash's hand, infecting it with the Evil. Ash manages to chop his hand off with an axe before the Evil spreads. Later, the professor’s daughter shows up with three other people: her boyfriend, and the two locals that showed her the backwoods footpath to the cabin. Death and carnage ensues. The Professor's daughter manages to open a vortex by translating a spell out of the Book of the Dead. Ash is able to send the Evil into the vortex, but gets sucked into it himself. Ash and his car end up in medieval Europe, surrounded by knights. This film has a good dose of dark humour thrown into the horror. Army of Darkness (Evil Dead III) ------------------------------------------- This third instalment in the Evil Dead series picks up with Ash as a captive regaling us with his unbelievable story from the previous movie. Ash is taken prisoner, mistaken for one of Duke Henry's men. Who, along with others is also taken captive by King Arthur? The prisoners are to be thrown into a pit that contains deadites. The first prisoner lasts but a few seconds before having his blood sprayed all over. Ash is next in the pit, but he stands his ground against the Evil and crawls out of the pit. This heroic feat gains Ash some respect. Our Hero then goes on a quest to find the Book of the Dead, because it is the only thing that will get him back home to his own time. In his quest Ash unleashes the Army of Darkness with his bumbling ways. Ash and King Arthur's army fight against the Army of Darkness, and in the end are victorious. THE GAME STORY -------------------------- Now I hope you’ve have read the history of the t film because the game start straight after the end of part three. Now Ash returns back to the real world after all his horrifying adventure. He finds a jo
b and meets a new girlfriend Jenny who also works in the same place. But to Ash every night and day he keeps on remembering the nightmares that he went through and finds it hard to let go. Jenny suggests to Ash to go back there to help him release all the fears away as it’s all over. They head back to the forest cabin in the woods. They enter the cabin and light up a fire and they just about to sit down when all of a sudden Ash she his old hand that he cut off in Evil Dead II. He tries to stop his hand from doing anything but it was too late, Ash old hand reached the old tape recorder and started to play it. That right folks! The tape just happens to be the one with Candarian resurrection passages translated from to Necronomicon (Book of the Dead). Sound familiar to the first movies. And Ash try to stop the player but it’s broken, he turns around to a loud scream to seen that Jenny has disappeared. AIM ----- OK the aim if the game is to save Jenny and recover the Book if the Dead pages and send the evil back. I know what you’re all thinking it back to the old movies but it true. CONTROL --------------- The control of the game is quite hard to get a grasp of and it does take some time. Now the movement is quite clear and easy to understand but due to the movement of Ash it is really hard to fight the deadite. Here the control movement on you playstion controller. Up - Moves Ash forward in the direction he's facing. Left/Right - Turns Ash left and right. Back - Ash takes a single hop backwards. Hold to make Ash walk backwards. Analogue controls are the same as digital. L1 - Hold down while pushing left or right to hop left or right. L2 - Turns off the chainsaw. R1 - Hold down the button to make Ash run. You'll be using this one a lot. R2 - Starts the chainsaw. Pushing R2 while the chainsaw
is on revs it up. O Button - Open doors, search the area, pick up items, look at an object and occasionally talk to people. When the chainsaw's turned on, pushing this will turn it off...the same as L2. X Button - Swing the chainsaw. You can do this even when the chainsaw's turned off, although it does much less damage...about the same damage as the axe. This is the confirm button in the menus. Square Button - Uses the left-handed weapon, which is selectable. Triangle Button - Ash says a one-liner. You can use this while running around to make Ash ramble insanely as he roams the woods-be warned, though, sometimes a deadite will erupt from the ground in response to his taunts. This is mainly used during battles--see "fighting enemies" for more details. Start Button - Pauses the game and open the game-options screen for such things as closing credits and sound settings, vibration function...nothing related to actual gameplay. Select Button - Pauses the game and opens the inventory screen. Practices make perfect GRAPHIC -------------- The computer graphics are very jumpy from scene to scene, which make it very hard to think which way your facing. This only happens when you go to different area of the map in the game and you will see screen load ups. Other than that the details spent on making the movie match the film is quite spot on, I’ll have to leave it up to you to decide. SOUND ----------- The sound of the creepy Demon coming out of the grounds sounds great as well the commentary from the Actor Bruce Campbell. You’ll hear wise crack to jokes through the game and the taught sounds brilliant to. OVERALL -------------- This game does poses a lot of potential and the game makers have come up with a great idea. But I think it a little big to late for a game of this type, as I would recommend you b
uying Alone in the Dark 4 as it so much better. It a great little game with pack full of ideas but to me playing this did not have my attention for long even though quite addictive at the start. If your thinking about buying this title I would suggest and recommend this to people who like the evil dead comedy horror story. The only thing about this game that won me over was the voice of Ash saying funny thing through the game. Guys and Girls the evil is out there waiting for you but your better off alone in the dark! HE HE! :0) 6/10
